Did Liverpool out play you on the wings? Do you use forward arrows all the time on your wingers? I used to but at times they struggle to help the fullbacks out at times, and I found they were getting doubled up on against good teams. You must experience this too cos you was using a back arrow on them.
| No it was two balls through the middle that they did me on and it was fairly even after the first 6 minutes was unlucky not to draw.
Founding my biggest problem at the moment is putting the ball in the goal drew once in uefa and once in league cup both 0-0, dominated both games had a lot of chances just couldnt score.

Try setting up a target man if you dont already, I find Kepa and Ashton both good when aimed to head. And Tevez is good if you prefer play to feet style. But mostly scoring comes when it comes, once a striker has got their first 5-10 they seem to get into that scoring mentality much easier.
I just lost to Portsmouth Will take out my frustrations on an injury struck Watford next!

| I always need a good target man for my version of the tactic, it's essential for me. The best one I've had ever was Crouch, I doubt I'll be able to tempt him to West Ham though.
I wish I wasn't at work right now, I really want to get home and give this a try.

get Eddie Johnson, no-one can come close to him as a targetman on FM for the price you pay. He costs £1.2 million and is very consistent
FuSS - Interesting to see you lost against Pompey as well. The people who tired my saved game all had trouble against a Pompey side and they found it hard to convert the chances.

The last couple of times I've tried to get Eddie Johnson I've been refused a work permit. He usually is my first transfer target but since 7.0.2 I've not managed to get a work permit for him.
I'll give him a try on this game again though, I may have just been unlucky.

Fuss: I'm interested to see your team on paper since one of Cleon's theories is that it takes a player up to 8 months to settle in. Surely with all of these new players, you can not be consistent?
After finishing 5th with Newcastle, I brought in David Pizarro, Jankulovski, and Scott Brown and it all went pear-shaped...

| Its not a theory its a direct fact from SI.
But all players differ, some settle quicker than others and vice versa. If you buy someone who's used to playing in the formation you currently and the country you are already in then they shouldn't take that long to settle in I imagine just a few games. Your best having a peek at there adaptability stat to see how fast they will settle though.
But then it does take time for them to gel as a team also, and this is why one week you can win 3-0 and the next loose 3-0. It can cause a lot of unconsistency. There are some games thought where they don't seem to have a negative effect on your team. But I have only experienced this one before so for me that was rare. I managed to bring in a new first 11 and it didn't seem to effect me in the slightest.
But like I said, that was just rare for me.

Hi Cleon, thanks for responding to me email earlier.
Just been looking at your save game and wanted to pick your brains on a couple of points if thats ok?
1) I see that few players are given 'often' instructions and the ones that do tend to have 16+ for the relevant stat. Is this a rule you use?
2) In terms of picking your formation, did you choose the 11 best players at your disposal and then move from there, or did you have a particular set up in mind when you started the game?
Cheers
Seb
