What is the best away tactic or just a good tactic to play away?

My first 7 games this season in the Premiership reads like this - Won 3 at home and Lost 4 away. It's really p@#£$&g me off.

I'm in my fifth season with Villa and I really wanna get in the Champions League, I probably would've by now if it wasn't away form. Starting from my first season up until last season reads like this - 7th, 6th, 7th and 6th. I think i've done ok but i've spent about £110m in that time and got about £40 back, so I really should be doing better. But hey, the teams above spend as much or even more than me so....

Another thing, I won the UEFA Cup last season, so not alls bad.

You can discuss about tactics here or you can offer up suggestions on how to play here, but never never ask for tactics here. Or the topic will get closed by me.

I'll leave this thread open for you to give more information. There's no such thing as the perfect away tactic cos every tactic depends on a certain set of players to do well. So give more information please before my fingers get itchy.

The rules of the forum forbid asking for tactics. Anyway there are plenty offered here.

If you ask how to construct your away tactic, there are some pointers:

against top teams play conservatively:

- low creative freedom
- low mentality
- low width
- counter attack is often useful
- consider giving high closing down to select players (preferably wingers and strikers)
- selectively harass opponent key players (especially those with low bravery and determination) with hard tackling and/or tight marking and /or man marking;

It is also very important to score first away from home, so if you see you are not playing well, stop the game immediately and make changes to your tactic to regain advantage.
