Nice tactic. Just beat Man Utd 2-0 at home as Reading.
I started with the Tight formation, but switched to Kill after about 25 minutes of Man Utd domination. They hardly got a shot after that. They still dominated possession but I had twice as many shots as they did and a brace from Doyle sealed the win.

I take it back. Lost 7-1 to Liverpool at Anfield.
Most one-sided game ever.

| That doesn't surprise me. I've had games with these sets that defy belief. They're not as tight as I want them to be yet, but as the feedback seems reasonably positive I hope to change that in the near future.
Any particular reasons for such a bad performance, or was the tactic just not working?

Mr Magic,
I'm sorry if I inadvertantly misled you.
I've only used these tactics for about 20 games, I got promoted from the conference using my own 442 (heavily influenced by Fuss) then found the best way to play div 2 was to set up a 442 tactic with counter attacking, deep d-line and then go to college leaving the assistant manager to play my tactic. When I got back, I was in a promotion spot so let the computer get on with it.
I play on a laptop with an OK processor but very little RAM and my game craaaaaaaawwwllls along-after the FA cup first round it literally spends over 5 minutes calculating the results (and on the fastest mode too). I'm lucky if I play 3 games an hour....

I'm using this tactic in Belgian tirth division B.
I came at the team at the end of the season, and played the last 10 games. I was 2nd best team of the league in those last 10 games. In the next season I'm 2nd after 7 games (5W 1D 1L)

Ok this is how I've done so far with NYRB's.
Maribor (A) Won 3-0
Neuchatel Xamax (A) Won 2-0
Le Havre (A) Won 1-0
Colo Colo (A) Won 3-0
Columbus Crew (A) Won 3-1
Kansas City (H) Won 1-0
New England (A) Won 3-0
I was missing two of my key players for all these matches and a couple of other first choices for others yet I dominated play in all of them.
Gutted about conceding one but it was a 30 yard screamer which you can't do anything about really.
Very very pleased with this tactic so far.

15 matches furder, and the tactic still works
Have conceeded less goals then all other teams, and only 1 team scored more (still playing Aalst - a lower league Belgian team)
Certainly don't be afraid to change to "kill" I don't remember me having ever a goal agains on kill and I sometimes score 2 more goals.
Mostly use tight, and change to kill after the other team takes over on possesion or when my lead is enough. Only using press when I'm really big favourite for the game
Nice work

| I'm going to be honest now and state that this surprises me.
Currently entering the final phase of the season. Guaranteed playoffs, cannot win automatic promotion and basically cruising for the final three or four. The tactics are stagnating for me BUT my morale is poor, my form is poor and my players are certainly poor.
Thanks for the feedback guys. It gives me faith to persevere with them and try and gain promotion. I know they are defensively sound, but can they score the goals to win me the playoffs?
I hope these exams finish soon so I can immerse myself in Football Manager (and gain a BA (Hons), preferably)...

Still unbeaten after 10 games but have drawn 5 of them.
When teams go very defensive it's very difficult to break them down. Do you think removing the CA option at home may help?
