Hey fellow FM fanatics

I've got a bit of a dilemma when it comes to sorting out my formation, as nothing's work/yielding best result i dont feel. I have both Gerrard and Riquelme who i want to play in the Centre but they are both quality playmakers and i'm struggling to accommodate both (i didn't buy Riquelme btw inherited him).

Is it best to just use one playmaker? Is 2 playmakers stupid? Shall i try Gerrard on the right? Finally, which formations do you guys find work well with a very strong playmaker?

Sorry for so many questions, but i really want to start winning!

In a 4-4-2 formation i think having 2 playmakers is not great. its best to have a defensive mid alongside a playmaker. In a 4-5-1 formation 2 playmakers can work quite well. Try playing Gerrard as a slightly defensive midfielder.

play gerrard on the right and riquelme as your playmaker, with a good DM next to him.

thats what i would do anyway, or you could just rotate them.

i think i'll prefer o play steve on he flanks and roman in he middle. try using roman as the playmaker. it should work just well.u can also rotate them bu roman woldnt be playing from he wings.

haven't played for a while but this is what i used to do

Play with a 4132 or a 433 with two wide running wingers and one lone striker

Set up the 3 midfielders like this:

Left MC Riquelme, central MC hardman, right mc Gerrard

Give the two boys FWR mixed, ttb often. medium to high closing down and a higher mentality. Ideally you should be able to get 2 playmakers without having to set the pm instruction. And the central MC just closes down hard no ttb and plays short passes to the two of them.

Rashidi, i'll try your suggestion before i resort to playing Gerrard on the wing and i'll give you feedback ASAP.

Btw- Any idea if there is a 4132 formation uploaded anywhere on the site? I've searched for one unsuccessfully. If not i'll use the default on e on the game.

Narrow midfield not play him as a winger you can sarrow them

play them both attacking, Maybe a 4-5-1 and play 1 def mid and then gerrard and riquelme infront of him and then 2 att mids on wings and then a target man striker.

If you've got Roman in the middle you wouldn't be wasting Stevie out wide, the game's not like real life in that respect - he makes a great wide-man in the game where I used to play him a lot (because it's hard to leave out Sissoko and Mascherano)
Besides, if you play him on the right in your game you won't be bombarded by press and pundits complaining....
