Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Help with Man utd

I have started up a league with a few mates and i drew Man Utd out of a hat.

We have played about 8 games into the new season and i am struggling big time.

Formation

-----------------------VDS---------------------

--Brown-------Rio-------------Vidic-------Evra-

--Ronaldo------Scholes----Hargreaves----Giggs

----------Rooney---------------Saha------------

I am using the new update so Tevez, Nani and Hargreaves are all in my squad. The problem is i can't score goals and am losing so often, does anyone have an tips to help me try to turn my season around, there is £50 riding on it.

There are many good thread by the greats such as wwfan, cleon and rashidi on how to succeed in this game. Its not easy or simple but you need to put some effort in by reading those. Here is a link to pretty much all the good posts:

I've had almost the same problem. I could win, but it was always a tight 1-0 affair. And like a certain Russian dictator (chairman?), I like my team playing with flair and verve. So I experimented and came up with a decent one. They might not work for you right away, as I find that a drastic adjustment (especially with tempo) usually leads to a string of bad performances, but if you hang on I hope this will work.

(I lost all my screenshots on my laptop so I'll have to do the old fashion way and type out the instructions, so apologies for the length of this post...and feel free to adjust them a few notches up or down depending on the results you're getting)

Team:

Mentality: Attacking (about 3 notches from right)

Creativity: High (3 notches from right)

Passing Style: Short (3 notches from left)

Tempo: Quick (3 notches right of the middle)

Width: Wide (4 notches from right)

Closing Down: A lot of them are individual, but generally I put it on often, about 2 notches right of the middle

Time Wasting: Middle

Defensive Line: 3 notches right of the middle

Tackling: Normal

Focus Passing: Down both flanks

Marking: Zonal

Counter attack on

.....

Indivdiually:

Free role on for DL, DR, ML, MR, the more attacking MC (Scholes), and the forward not striker (Rooney)

Cross Ball: Often for the whole team, except GK

Through Ball: Often for the whole team, except GK

Run with Ball: Often for the whole team, except GK

Forward Run: Often for the whole team, except GK

Mentality and Closing Down: Left of the middle for defenders, although I have my DR and DL close to the midpoint. Wingers and the more offensive minded CM on attacking, while in your case Hargreaves would be almost right around the middle. For forwards, have one being the more attacking than the other, relative to the position you want them to be on the pitch (i.e. Saha hanging on to the last defender.) Closing down would be relative to their mentality, although I'd suggest Hargreaves sit back a little more to provide extra cover for your defence.

It might be a little unorthodox but I've started my 12th season with Man U and right now I'm at scoring on average about 3 goals a game, so I hope they can boost your offensive capablities too.
