Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

if u have a goalkeepre with good decisions and acceleration you should use 5, otherwise 2 or 0. it all depends to the quality of the keeper. with babacan volkan i was using 5 and worked perfect while ustari got 2 goals in 25 minutes rushing out. i ve put ustari at 2 and it was fine.

I personally had a huge issue that my keeper would not go after long balls kicked in the penalty area by the opposition, the opponent striker would come take the ball and score.

Then I read somewhere that keeper with high closing down will come forward and pick those balls.

So, I set my keeper CD to 15 and it worked great! It seldom happens that the striker will get first to the ball and score in the open goal but it works fine 95% of the time.

You need a keeper with good rushing out, decisions, anticipation, acceleration and pace
stats.

I suggest you try this several times in friendlies and see whether it works for you, and decide what to do after that.

Not only the CD instruction given to the goalie affects how this work. The GK`s rating for the "Rushing Out" attribute is the most important to concider. I play with my GK CD at around 6-8. A GK with good "Rushing Out" will close down through balls against even with this low CD setting.

Sorry for triple posting. Forgot to mention that I play with a deep DL, which leaves less space behind own defenders. When playing with deep DL, CD around 6-7 is sufficient for the GK

In my opinion, it's not exactly "closing down" that is the issue, more "positional awareness" of players closing down if that makes sense.
