Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Youth development

Ok, so im about to start my first season in the premiership.

I have about 4 or 5 young lads around the 120 CA mark, but with excellent potential(i hope)

Do i bother giving them a run out in premiership matches? Or send them on loan to a league better suited to them?

My big concern with the premiership is they'll be playing against most players above their level and this could have a bad effect on their development.

Any suggestions?

Two options really -

1. loan them out to a club for a season. If you do this make sure the club says they will be valuable members otherwise there is no point them going. Also ensure the club is at a division where there will be merit sending your player there.
If it is say a conference level the player will not likely learn much.

2. Keep the player at the club.

If you do this there are FA cup, Carling cup and weaker league matches where you will be ableto squeeze players into some game time.

Keeping a youth player on the bench and giving them 10-15 minutes at the end of a match you have already won is a good idea too... much like Fergie and Frank Rijjards do.

That will be of immense benefit if they get at least 10 appearances during the season. (not neccessarily starting).

Definite loanage to your feeders and lower division clubs i would think few seasons there, and there playing first team football they should develop well and be good enough to start to introduce in your full team.

Loans is a great way to develop youngsters, does alot for me and my youth

You may wait a little longer, track records with the likes of Matt Murray Wayne Hennessey and Mark Davies arent good. Seems to have taken them ages to realise these players actually had potential.

Stephen Gleeson is a tad under rated too
