Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default the defensive instructions

im conceding 2-3 goals in avarage EACH game, no matter if its away or home, please some help with the defence instructions!

im playing Control tactic on home and counter on away ( both get me 2 goals each game which is great, my attack works just fine )

my cbs are riggot ( acc13 pace 8 ) and Kompany ( 15 and 15 ) both are very good with positioning, marking and tackling.

SBs Pasanen and cech ( both not quick, but great markers and tacklers. )
also playing Lassana diarra and Goerge Boateng on midfield as CMs ( defensive CMs )...

any help would be welcome !

p.s:
if anyone post the Opposition instructions for 4-3-3 formation ill be more than gratefull, since i just cant prevent scoring. ( at all. )

I'm sure i read from one of the tactical gurus that they man mark the wingers in the 4-3-3.

How long have you been playing the tactic by the way?

well, more info is needed on the specific problems. do you lose leads? do you get early goals? how do you concede goals? what are your settings?

im playing 442 control on home, counter on away.

i seem to concede every possible goal ( free kicks - headers or just shots, counter attacks and just normal attacks that somehow end up with the ball at net )

i guess it has something to do with my OI settings and player instructions, probably SBs aren't set well.

Why dont you upload the team instructions, and match stats, so that people can see what is going on.

All I can say is you need to check constantly the stats during the game. If you play control tactics you have to make sure you have upper hand in possession, passing % and number of key passes. Otherwise your tactic is doing nothing.

If you see opposition passes at ease, try to set your midfielders, wingers and strikers to higher closing down to stop them and win balls in their half. If you do that and you see the opposition catches you out of position, it means you pressure does not work okay.

The DCs need to be set at def. mentality and closing down to rare: 4-8, otherwise they will go out of position.

Play deeper def-line if you see the opposition passes long balls behind our defense. Play higher def-line if you attack more and they clear the ball often. this will help you win those cleared balls near the center circle.

here are some pointers for opponent instructions:

- always close down tall strikers.
- do not close down faster strikers.
- hard tackling on players that can dribble well and can cause you trouble, especially if they have poor mental stats - bravery determination...
- match high-jumping striker with high-jumping DC, and fast SC with fast DC.
- adopt tight marking in away games and all games you cannot impose possession advantage.

Also try to really control the game. When you play attacking fast tempo game the team needs to create opportunities and threaten. It work ok even if you do not score - this may be because they hurry too much. If they do not create opportunities you should consider control tactics.

With control tactics your team needs to have at least 52-55% possession, otherwise the tactics is not functioning well... You will need to win balls early, possibly with high closing down, etc.

Maybe the tactics you we downloaded are not good for your team. the most efficient tactic is the one that you make specificlly for the players that you have. i was having the same problem, but after readind the tactical manegemant posts here on the forum( i know they are huge!!!) i ve managed to understand the game and created my own tactics that work perfect.( 100 point in first season with AS Roma).
