currently i'm using training based on position (so DC training is more defensive, ST is more attacking etc) but i'm thinking that its a bit too generic for my needs.
for example, i have a DMC (pirlo) who is considered a playmaker as he has brilliant passing/first touch/technique/creativity etc but he plays naturally at DMC.
at the moment i'm lumbering him in with the other DMCs which i dont think i should be doing.
should i be sticking with the position based schedules i'm currently using or should i go for something for the different type of players i have: (and i'll use the ac milan team as an example)
-[crossing] anyone who needs to be able to cross the ball (eg kaladze/jankulovski)
-[defensive] any type of defensive players (eg nesta/gattuso/ambrosini)
-[attacking] attack minded players (eg, seedorf/gourcuff/brocchi)
-[shooting] obvious what players go into this one (eg, gilardino/inzaghi)
-[creative] any player that could be considered a playmaker (eg, kaka/pirlo)
-[goalkeeping] again, obvious who this is for (dida)
-[general] for a player who have got high stats across the board, which i would want to train them all equally (eg, milan dont seem to have one of these so i'll use gerrard/de rossi as an example)
i dont want to go all the way and create schedules for each player as thats a bit too fiddly for my liking.
Interesting theory- it is accepted that designing individual training schedules by position will improve attributes faster that using the general one. Although your theory could be correct, I am not sure if doing what you suggested would show any more improvement than what you do at the momnet and whether it could be measured to find out is also an issue. Personally I doubt that you would see much difference but of course that is only an opinion.
personally i would have the attacking training for DM's high because i like my DM's to control the game and dictate tempo etc. thats why i play fabregas there and he can collect the ball from defence and spread the play but his training schedule has high attacking and low defending
by doing schedules for the type of player, my thinking is that i can a) lessen the amount of schedules i have and b) to fit the style of player into the right type of training for them.
i suppose its not too much of a stretch to lump pirlo in with the AMC schedule the same as kaka, i'm maybe thinking that it will be easier if they are done by description.
should i just do that or is the train by type of player too crazy/silly an idea?
also at the moment, i have training levels for everything is at least 1/4 full, except goalkeeping which is none.
my reasoning is that i dont need my central defenders on the "defensive" training group to have much set piece training (they shouldnt be getting in positions to cross the ball!) but i sure dont want those stats to drop at all.
is 1/4 too much to maintain those stats, should i halve that on the bar and put what i get back into something else?
All I can say is ; wait for the patch - then test your training schedules and report back.
Player development right now is very very slow..something might have change in the final patch...
