I'm trying again to start a new game as manager of MLS's LA Galaxy (the team where Beckham signed that huge contract). I'm trying to figure out who to sign to both fill out my 35-man preseason roster and to see about fielding the best side I can given that I don't have budget under the salary cap and am dealing with draconian restrictions on Senior Internationals.

I know most FM players probably stay away from MLS, but what can i say? I'm a Yank.

I'm also curious which tactical setup people think best matches the Galaxy's talent. The default appears to be standard 4-4-2; should I mess with it? How do I call a more aggressive offensive match, and do I have the talent to sustain it?

Your Managing Probably one of the best teams in the U.S, which of course means, you can go into a more offensive and aggressive style of play.

What i like to do:-

Since your a good team, you dont want to be hurried into playing the way the other team want you to play, and you dont want to be just booting the ball clear to the tallest man.

What you want to do is play a slow, short passing game, meaning your players can build the play up the way they want too do it.

Try not too use target man function, as this usually means, that you will play a 1 dimensional game of football(well soccer ).
If you have good markers at the back. Put your Defenders on Tight Marking. And Before a game on the Opposite team instructions, make sure to mark the 2 strikers, and 2 wingers.

This is what i do for the opposite team instructions.

GK:- Closing Down- Always
Show onto- Weaker Foot
Tackle- Hard
Fullbacks:- No Instructions
Centre backs:-Closing Down- Always
Centre Mids:- Closing Down- Always
Tackle- Hard
Wingers:- Tight Mark
Show onto-Weaker foot
Tackle- hard
Strikers:-Tight Mark
Show onto Weaker Foot
Tackle- Hard
Closing Down- Always
