Actually guys, I need to ask one thing before I get started.

I took unemployed and was asked when to start the season. It offered me Ireland January 2006, as that was the earliest point I could take.

I took it, thinking this would give me more time to take a job.

However, I got a job with a Welsh Premier league club in January. And the season doesn't start until June 2006.

So......does that mean any money I make from friendlies has to be given back?

So, do I have to start over again?

Thoughts please?

Money from friendlies is the club's money.

Starting in January when the season doesn't begin until June is not something I would do. At the lower levels, clubs tend to haemorrhage cash, so you might find that you're already up financial **** creek by the time the football starts.
Plus, 6 months without a real match? Booooring.

You could holiday till June, with sell nobody checked.

Actually, not that bad. No competitive games but loads of big money friendlies. Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday fixture programme against most of the SPL, some EPL and some Championship sides.

Now sitting with a balance of £130,000 plus I've now got a new batch of pre-season friendlies to rake in more cash so I could be sitting on a cool quarter mil before the season starts.

Does that sound right, or is this the only way to survive for a Welsh Premier League club?

That many high profile friendlies sounds decidedly unrealistic.

It ain't every match.

Tends to be Queens Arms XI - Saturday, Dundee Utd - Wednesday, Lepers & Terminally Ill Children Boys Club - Saturday and so on.

Basically, crap team, decent team, crap team.

Still unsure if this is acceptable. Sorry for all the questions but I'd be pretty p****d off if I got 3 seasons in and found out it was all for hee-haw.

I work on the basis of one high profile pre-season friendly each season.

But its your game.

Hmmmmmmm. I started another one last night, just in case I'd breached any rules and, to be honest, the uneasy feelings I have about it probably mean I have.

Dunno too much about only one high profile friendly. I think a couple against higher league opponents and one big name is fine. The only problem I felt uneasy about was the fact that I had six months of extra friendlies that I wouldn't normally.

Ah weel. Never did like the idea of having only one league in the country anyway.

I'll update you in 3 seasons, I know and let you know how pesh I'm doing.

You have to look at it realistically.

If you signed on in January and don't start League games 'til the following August then it's fair to assume a) you've signed some type of pre-contract agreement, b) someone else is running the team in the current league, and c) it's unrealistic to play three friendlies a week whilst someone else is running the team.

Seems pretty simple to me.
