I have a friend who's pretty far to the right and he hardly ever leaves his couch, so that puts that theory to rest. :o

My players ignore those. It doesn't matter where I put the passing slider, they still pass it exactly the same amount.

My players ignore it too. No matter what I tell them to do they tend to pass it as quickly as possible to the nearest opposing player

You need better players fugazi. My players take their time, get the ball under control, look up, and then pass it to the nearest opposing player!
