You're exactly right about the scouting closer to home part.

Managing a small team in the Tyneside area, you could scout as far away as Cornwall, but would not be able to scout the Borders region of Scotland, (granted all you find there are rugby players ), which is far closer geographically.

So you did .
I must have glazed over with all the talk of the Jock-Poofs.

Euww, the thought of your kilts flapping around and wafting scents from your Jock-poof never-regions has put me right off my lemon flavoured bon bons |

Lemon flavoured bon bons put me off lemon flavoured bon bons to be fair, never mind the thought of Ian's nether regions.

How about adding "Scout yourself"?
If you live and coach in another country then wouldn't it be logical that you would want to take trips to your home country during the off season? And wouldn't you watch some games then to see if you find any prospects? So if you would take the game to a certain extreme you could watch games from your home nation during the off season and see if you spot any players you would want to have.
I know it's probably a bit to extreme but it's always an option.

SSSJJJ, that might work in some cases, but for me it would be a waste of a feature, as I am a proud Canadian, and never make myself anything else in the game. The idea that a Canadian would get a work permit to play in, say the Scottish 3rd Division is laughable.
I do, though, think that with the costs of travelling amongst the countries on the British Isles being so minimal, that the restrictions are a bit extreme. My side, now in the Premier Division in Norn Iron, still can't scout outside it. Not even to the south.

| I honestly don't know so don't take this the wrong way, would anyone from outside of N. Ireland really want to leave their country to play there? IIRC, even the very top teams in the league aren't professional. So maybe it isn't too realistic to not even be able to scout outside of your area but it's the best way to keep the pool of available players realistic.
