Wasn't it more along the lines of "Hello, you English ****"?

Incidentally, I don't see how the regional idea would be too difficult to implement, given the geographical nature of the likes of Italian, Portuguese...and even Conference N/S...Lower Leagues.

I may have slightly missed the gist of the thread but I'd like to add the following...

It also ramps up the difficulty of signing new or replacement scouts. I'm managing in Wales and using the job centre to find a scout, all the applicants I received had no or very little knowledge of Wales. Which doesn't do me any good. Why apply if you have no knowledge of the area AND the club won't allow scouting outside of it?
Still it's better than last years system, thats for sure.

I would agree that in general the scouting has come on leaps and bounds, but the scouting only your parent Country thingy has brought up more problems of it's own.

Managing a small team in the Tyneside area, you could scout as far away as Cornwall, but would be able to scout the Borders region of Scotland, (granted all you find there are rugby players ), which is far closer geographically.

I liked the old 'SYB/SWYCT' rule, and although I like the new system too, I think that limiting it at the lowest level seems wrong somehow.

Something else that's just come to mind and has been trouched upon above somewhere.

What about the Kiwi team that plays in Oz.

Or any of the Welsh teams in England

It may be an improvement, but limiting your initial scouting ability to your parent Country is too flawed for me. It's not as realistic as the existing rules and realism quite simply..... rules.

Are those teams in close vicinity to one another? If so, then I think we are saying the same thing. I have to admit my knowledge of teams below the Premiership is pretty limited. I'm just trying to reason from logic and it wouldn't seem all that appealing to move halfway across the country (or to another country even) for wages that would set you well below the poverty line. Maybe a few would. It is a game and probably won't ever be able to perfectly model real life so I think some kind of artificial way of limiting the pool of available players for amateur and semi-pro sides might be the best that can be hoped for at this point.

Looking again, we probably are. My view is that, although it should be more difficult to get national players than it currently is in the game, it shouldn't be difficult to scout regionally. Which is probably your view...

So, what do we call you?
