Can somebody please explain to me why Stoke had the current Watford/manure goalie for years and never once played him (and yet still sold him for £1m)?

Wrexham had him on loan for the season two years back. He was outstanding then, and red-faced angry Scotsmanager of Manure was a regular at the Racecourse when son-of-red-faced angry Scotsmanager played there. (Credit to the bloke, often came to watch his son on a Saturday if Manure had a Sunday match and we were at home). He liked what he saw, and decided to sign him up as one for the future.
