If you'd ever been to Basingstoke you'd understand, they have turnstiles on the ring road & when they need a populace change they do a diversion from the M3.
You sit in traffic so long that you're liable for council tax.

Right, a question.

For tactical reasons that shall remain un-named, i made point in my pre-LLM days to assess the starting 11 of my opposition's team before that match.

Seeing as i ve got my best scout (hes not very good but better than the other two dimwits ive got employed) scouting solely my next opponent, would checking the opposition players's stats be considered fair game?

I havent done that in my Basingstoke game so far, but as im making a push for a promotion or playoff spot, i'd find it very helpful to be able to do so, but i wasnt sure if that would be considered LLM.

Any opinions?

Absolutely fair game IMO - you've scouted them so why not?

I've never done it myself, and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it.

What more can you realistically expect from your scout looking at the next opposition than the game gives you?

I think usual formation, general style of play, danger men and the reason that they're dangerous is fair enough. I don't think I'd expect a full player by player breakdown on the basis of one or two matches.

Nothing explicit in the guidelines, but it doesn't feel right to me, TBH

Thats why i havent tried it so far.

If i had a scout with say 15/15 for judgement, i d be more inclined to do it, as i could trust his judgement for these players.

I find it hard to believe that someone with 8's would pin down exactly every player's attribute and possible preferred move by watching a single game.

Self-induced fog of war it is then, at least till i get decent scouts.

Well until the team has been scouted aren't the attributes masked anyway?
If the scout watches a match doesn't he gather information on the opponents as well? So by the time he does file a report he may well have watched a team a few times (depending on who the teams previous scouting trips have involved)
If you're not going to trust their opinions why employ them?
Actually I ask myself that all the bloody time!

Do you restrict yourself to just looking at the stats of the players involved in the match(es) the scout watched?

Thought not.

If you have one scout set on next opposition the likelihood is at 3pm Saturday whilst you're kicking off he's at your next opponent's match watching theirs. Then when you play them he's at the next match, and so on. So, unless you've got multiple scouts set on next opponent I don't think it's realistic to expect that they've seen more than 1 match. Which means 11 players you could possibly have something approaching full info on, and up to 3 subs with partial info. But I still don't buy it.

If I've watched a team for one game I could probably give you info on their formation, whether they lumped it or passed it around and who looked good on the day. Anything more than that and I think you're seeking to gain yourself an advantage.

IMHO, of course.

Coming back to your other point, he will have seen them when watching other teams, but it's not them you've asked him to concentrate on on those occasions.
