Everyones knows about the big names signed in order to create the worlds dream team....
Well this is my update on the trials and tribulations taking Madrid back to the top...
2006/7 Rayo Vallecano de Madrid - Segunda Division B1
OK, so Rayo are not 'Los Galaticos' and nor are they minnows in the lower leagues...but I love reviving club fortunes and Rayo still fit in LLM rules
The season went well, we always hung around the Top4 and with a final push managed to squeak home as Champions.
Into the playoffs and we crush Cartagena 5-2 (agg), before slumping 0-2 at home to Real Union in the 1st leg of the Final. Dreams almost dashed, my job was saved in a dramatic 2nd leg turnaround with 2 goals in the final minutes to claim a 3-2 (agg) win.

Playoff - Winners vs Real Union (3-2 agg)
Spanish Cup - 4th Round vs Celta Vigo (1-4 agg)
2007/8 Rayo Vallecano de Madrid - Segunda Division
Back in the limelight (well nearly) and managerial bloopers ruin the club. We sink to debts of 8 million, the Chair'woman' sells the club to a Director who puts us in hock with a 13 million pound loan ending in 2033!
On the field, my glamour signings fail spectacularly and although we take it to the final day, a failure to win sees us go back whence we came by 2 measly goals.

Spanish Cup - 4th Round vs Osasuna (1-4 agg)
2008/9 Rayo Vallecano de Madrid - Segunda Division B1
What goes down must come up, is the old saying of park bench 'rummies'. And in the case of Rayo, we managed to rebuild on a bed of kids from the U19s and again in final day drama, manage to nick the Title away from Tenerife.
Playoffs again, this time no such trouble. Aguilas went down 5-0 on agg, whilst Benidorm took us closer in a 5-3 agg win.

Playoff - Winners vs Benidorm (5-3 agg)
Spanish Cup - 1st Round vs Leganes (1-2)
Back up, we embark on a 3 pts from21 run to start the season at the foot of the table. A few adjustments see us climb away from the dropzone and establish a comfortable mid-table finish.
Debts stand at near-on 8million, so a clutch of 'B*smans' signed in January are the hope for a promotion push next year...
