Default National Teams ??

Started my game with Automatic Experience set, so i should be safe from the England Job bug.

But generally whats the viewpoint for an acceptable level of club experience before branching out into National team management ?
10, 15 years ? more ?

It's not just time, it's also reputation, success, etc.

15 years at Macclesfield in the Conference North and yo-yoing between the Conference and League 2 wouldn't get you much recognition, but 10 years in which you go to increasingly higher reputation Clubs and maybe end up in the EPL would get you noticed.

See where you are, see what you've done, and ask yourself how you'd feel if a manager of your standing was given the Poofland top job.

In general, we shy away from national sides, as it's unrealistic to do both a country and club at the same time, but strictly running a country is too boring.

That said, you should have been managing top flight football in one of the top leagues for a lengthy period of time, and being successful while doing so. You can't put a time limit on it, because you can manage in League One for 25 years but that doesn't mean you deserve to manage a national team.

I see your point, but i was thinking of starting out with a high profile national team like Togo.

i figured a team with a standing of 100+ would be more tolerant towards a less experienced manager.

Your language suggests looking for excuses rather than reasons though...

Again, how many English managers who've gained their experience in Lower Leagues are managing National teams?

Another thing to consider is...very, very few British managers move abroad to non-English speaking countries.

Bit insular there Ian. Here in Asia we have a good record - the current assman at Millwall managed Nepal and India; an ex-Villan England international has managed Indonesia and Malaysia; an Aussie ex-int is here managing Cambodia. There are more.

National teams are a leap of faith in LLM at the best of times. As was stated to manage England (and all big national teams) you'd have to give up managing a club (for reality). Who is going to do that? Not me. Maybe johnny Yakuza.

Generally speaking the way I look at it is; if I was a fan of the country involved would I be ****ed off if I got the job? The England job you would have to at least be the worst manager in the EPL (see current boss ), but to manage Australia, if you've seen football played without hands you are a show.

In my current game I was offered the job of Australia boss and grabbed it. In reality I probably hadn't earned it (it's nearly end of 2014/2015 and haven't been promoted in either of my jobs yet), but there you go.

Look at the big picture rather than picking out certain instances to refute his point, which is valid. And last time I checked, Aussies weren't British.

The last time I checked, Australia was a British high-security-prison. But I haven't checked for quite some time.
