As a fairly new member, I'm also ok with stopping update threads, as long as it doesn't lead to more "post your player rating" threads or the forum going completely lifeless...

I can absolutely guarantee that there will never be any "post your player rating" threads in here as long as I draw breath |

| Trust me - this forum survived perfectly well without update threads before they were reintroduced.

Gotta say as a newbie that it's easy to get the impression that update threads are a requirement. Kind of your maiden speech in parliament (assemblyfor some  }

I'm going to jump on this bandwagon too, and I've got a solution to remove the updates.
Send for :luciano:
He'll clear them out.

Rep Power: 10 | Update Aquaplaning
I've kept a close eye on aquaplaning over the past three seasons, and I've noticed two things:
1) Aquaplaning does seem to be influenced by results against higher rep teams.
2) Cups influence aquaplaning in the League.
Point 1) seems to be when playing fairly normally, wins and draws, then you pull off a startling 4-0 result against the top team...then lose or draw the next 7. This happened three seasons running, not all at the same time of the season, and each was halted by a victory against a higher rated team also.
Point 2) happened three seasons running between two rounds of the FA Cup. Three seasons I beat teams higher up than my current league (including a glorious defeat of Newcastle United at St James's :cool: ), lost the next 4 games for two of the seasons and five for one of them. Conclusion
Never beat a team that's better than you.
Cups suck @ss.

Noticed something similar Ian, good result against a good team = poor results for the next few games.
Althought to be fair, this does happen quite often in RL. How many times has someone had a result against either of the old firm, and then been beaten by one of the teams at the bottom of the league the following week.
