Default Highland Fling

At last made it through three seasons. Here goes.

Setup: UK + Ireland all leagues, large DB, Default profile.

Frank sends me to Elgin.

Season 2006-2007
Elgin

Scottish 3rd division (odds very high, possible mid-table)

Brought in a couple of freebies including a 42yr old DC and a 36yr old AMR - both were amongst my most reliable

players.

Really poor start, then we managed to raise our game to inconsistent. Reached lofty heights of 9th by Christmas, then

players took a nose bleed and dropped back to bottom place.

Board start to become unhappy, but manage to reach 8th near end of season, this cheers them up and I'm given a new 2

year contract. Manage to hold onto 8th place at the end, apparently our predicted position, so I'm quite chuffed, I

didn't make them worse.

Final Position: 8th
P36 W10 D14 L12 F38 A45 Pts44

Crap cups apart from a first round 6-2 victory over Stranraer (2nd Div) that had me getting the wife to check the

score for me.

Season 2007-2008
Elgin

Scottish 3rd Division(odds even higher than last year, struggle to avoid bottom place)

Reasonable start, quite a bit of breathing space between me and the bottom team, slowly climb up the table to 6th

place, but players get altitude sickness and go on a losing streak. Festive season comes and goes, team revival, 5

wins in a row and a PoM and MoM award is recieved (very proud moment - won something). Then some more losing and then

go unbeaten in final 6 matches to grab 6th. An improvement! Only 2 points from a playoff place.

Last years donkeys Queens Park win league, I still seem to be a bit of a bogey team for them though, highlighted by a

4-0 near end of season. BTW Craig0 Dumbarton won the playoffs and promotion.

Under 19's win their league - Unfair most of my first team is under 19. (or over 35)

final Position 6th
P36 W14 D10 L12 F49 A49 Pts52

Cups: eh?
(beginning to wonder if you get cup games after August)

Season 2008-2009 (never been this far into the future)
Elgin

Scottish 3rd Division(odds v.high , media predict 8th)

Fantastic start to the season, reaching the top spot early on, some good results including a 6-0 win over Forfar. Then main defender decides to help opp. strikers to hat-tricks and such like, and our good start is soon eroded.

Things get worse, juggle the team and tactics a lot, don't think this really helped matters! Chance of a late surge,

but fail to take advantage, and end up 6th again.

Board must be blind, they're happy and offer me a 3 year extension.

Arbroath win league.

Final Position 6th
P36 W13 D6 L17 F49 A54 Pts

cups: you all know what these do.

You've got to ac-cen-tuate the positive
E-lim-inate the negative
Latch on to the affirmative
Don't mess with Mister In-Between

That has nothing to do with the career, but what a brilliant song

KUTGW!!

It was first performed (and written, incidentally) by Johnny Mercer in 1944...before even I was born, not sure about Church, though...but my favourite versions are by Dr John, Sam Cooke, and the genius that is Willie Nelson

Pretty much is actually.

They were in the Highland League until 2000, anyway.
