I'm Albion Rovers (I always go them, ever since the days of Champ Manager yore) and I managed to get promoted to the Second Division after 2 seasons.
Getting immensely frustrating, though. I have plenty of money through selling some promising players, but while my transfer budget (as a result) is something approaching £150k, my board will only give me a max of £150 p/w for any potential signings, regardless of their actual cost.
Tried begging the board for more cash for wages - no dice. Asked for a parent club - no dice. Argh!
What's getting REALLY annoying, though, is that any players I go for that are within my wage range are invariably turning me down to go to the teams in the division below me! Even if I'm offering them key player positions.
Tearing my hair out a wee bit. Sitting 7th just now, fighting valiantly to stay out of the relegation zone!

Don't look upon this reply as anything other than a welcome, #13
If this is an update thread then it should be posted after three completed seasons (have a read at some update threads to see what's expected).
What you mentioned has had us tearing out what's left of our hair for seasons now, you'd think that 2 seasons and a promotion would raise your rep to above Division 3, but there you go
Welcome to LLM, read the forum header, and all else

I'm not far off the end of this division, right enough, so I'll shut my sack-of-spanners-like face and get onto finishing it and THEN come back and complain about my board!

See that's just cruel.
You'll be ok though, what I'm learning about LLM is that it really doesn't matter if you do get relegated ... it's more to do with writing entertaining update threads about what went wrong!

Well, I actually played a season and a half in one night, so I'm now at the end of my fourth season (time flies when things start to click for your team!).
Finished 9th in the league at the end of the third season, but managed to stave off relegation by winning the playoffs. Two days before the final, all three of my first team strikers AND my best midfielder all came down with injuries, from food poisoning to a torn hamstring, which meant my frontline was SKELETAL, but I managed a 5-4 aggregate win over Ayr United after extra time in a very tight two-legged final.
The next season, again, I couldn't buy anyone decent, but managed to get a couple of lucky loan deals from Partick Thistle and a free transfer or two and reshaped my entire formation. This paid dividends, and a very strong season (by Albion Rovers' standards!) led to me finishing 5th, missing out on 4th spot by just a couple of points.
However, with about a month to go, when I was still pushing for a promotion place, my chairman decided to sell my best player (really, he was the type of midfielder who would drag victory from the jaws of a thrashing single-handedly at times) without my say-so for a paltry £250k (which would have been nice if I'd been allowed to, say, offer some higher wages as a result!) so I was left with lots of money in the bank, but not being able to use it, and couldn't get anyone of quality to replace him, so my form suffered badly and a string of draws/defeats led to being mired in 5th place.
Still, it was a vast improvement from the previous season!
My current feelings for my chairman can be summed up in the following statements on the board room screen:
"The board are disappointed in the club's Second Division performance this season."
"You are expected to fight bravely against relegation this season."
I mean... COME ONNNNNNN!!!!!!!
*mutters to himself and wanders off to find someone to hostile-takeover the club or kneecap the chairman*

Thanks for the really per situational report, but err.... go ahead and read some other updates here, then start updating... most LLaMas don't really want to read all that nitty gritty. Just put a couple of standout episodes of your season and you will do fine here.
And there's a tread here in LLaMaland to go kill your board in your head... hope you find it!
I managed Albion Rovers back in CM97/98... Back when there was no Peterhead!

Heheh, I'm a storyteller at heart though. There's no joy or life to a series of bullet points
I'll stop with the long updates if it's annoying folk, but I won't do the bullet points thing cos it feels too sterile and cold
C'est la vie!
And Peterhead thumped me mercilessly every time I played them for my first two seasons except for one GLORIOUS cup tie where I beat them 6-0. Ahh, what a feeling!
