I wrongfully posted a way too early update a few weeks ago, but i hope you guys have forgiven me already about that slip up. I do have some questions and since i always play with llm-teams i think it is correctly posted here. Just to let you know, I am still playing FM06, if it makes a difference though.
1 - When starting a new game, i am not interested in how other competitions do, but i am interested in players from different, and cheaper, countries. To get those players, is it sufficient to load the game with "extra players from other country" or do i actually need to load that competition as well? Will my scout search be efficient without loading the whole competition? Because it all comes down to speed. With 1 competition loaded, things go smoother.
2 - the LLaMa philosophy about looking for players is, however strict, correct. Only scout for players. However, if non are found, is it possible to organize (or participate in) a tournament in pre-season in order to find some decent players? How small the team i choose, there are always some teams willing to play in such an event.
The only time you'd find no players is if you had no scout and can't get one for love nor money.
Your scout might find a lot of useless players. They're still counted as doing a search.
If you don't have a scout, it's acceptable to arrange a friendly.
If you're playing LLM in the true fashion, you would look at players closer to home. Retaining players from other countries unbalances the game to such an extent that you'll find the players overrun the league to a major extent

Hello LFCfan,
thank you for answering. But i will tell you why i have posted this question. I have read somewhere in the LLM-section (forgot which post exactly) that it is acceptable to send your scout to the same places as where you can organise a tour. If you can't organise a tour, meaning you don't have money, then you can't send your scout either (if you already have one). By applying this rule, i have send my scout to some countries where i could go on tour. Those countries' leagues neither players were uploaded, so i got 0 (zero) players. In my case, the tour countries where always neighbouring countries. And in the Europe we have today, going from Amsterdam to Paris is almost the same (in price and fuss) as going to your local Tesco's.
What i don't understand is "...If you don't have a scout, it's acceptable to arrange a friendly...." My interpretation is that it is not really an LLM-thing to organise friendlies. Also my understanding of Kriss's post leads me to the same. How do you prepare for the season then without friendlies?
When you start your game load the leagues which geographically neighbour you. (not the players)
This will give you a database with plenty of players from those nations.
If you're lucky your board may permit scouting the region as opposed to just your nation.
I'd be amazed if Belgian clubs don't play friendlies against nearby German & French clubs.
I do love this forum, if the right questions asked, the correct answers will follow. Simple!! Thanks a lot, it will spare me some sweat in this horrible hot place i am now... It is extremely hot for the time of the year here... But you guys don't want a weather forecast, don't you? Also, *STRIKER* is nearing his 1000th goal and when that will happen it will be -another- reason to stop the country and have a ball!!
By the way it is no fun to live in such a great football country when mine is *****!!! They won 4-0 against chile last weekend, while Belgium lost 4-0 in Portugal! It is truly a torture.
Brazilian dude: "does your country have a football team?"
I: "yes"
Bd: "Did you ever win some games?"
I: "Does playing against San marino or Luxembourg count?"
Bd: "que?" (since they never heard anything about those countries)
I: "thought so. Anyway..."
So this is then a good moment to switch to some more related things such as girls or beaches or girls on beaches...
