Board expects a respectable finish near the top of the table. Personally I’m hoping to get into the playoffs and challenge for a promotion.
I started out kind of slow as I was getting used to this lower league business and was working out some tactics that would fit with my players. I managed to stay around fifth place for the first half of the season which is right where I wanted to be.
Then things took off in the second half of the season as I settled into my position and found which players/tactics worked the best. I stormed to the top of the table and held on for dear life until the end of the season. Promotion!

I was largely unsuccessful in the cups being knocked out fairly early in both the trophy and the cup by Stevenage.
I ended up switching out my 16 year old keeper, his inexperience cost me a couple games but hopefully he will be my keeper of the future. The real story was my forwards who were just pure class the whole season. My speedy star managed to put away 46 goals in 40 competitive appearances which is just awesome. With 40 league goals (including 7 in one game!) he ran away with the scoring title.
Well this is my first attempt at a LLM game so go easy on me (I read the posts at the top of the page HUZZAH!). I loaded up England North/South and up with a small database. The in game randomizer sent me to Kettering in Conference North.
It seems like I picked up a pretty decent Conference North squad. The finances seem to be in order and I even get some transfer money.
First Impressions
Staff - No assistant manager with a horrible physio (physio level 1!?!) and scout. Pink slips fly and I bring in a new crew that hopefully aren’t as inept as the previous bunch.
Keepers – Nothing to write home about. I am going to use a 16 year old as my starting keeper. Am I crazy? Almost certainly.
Defenders – The previous coach must’ve had a thing for defenders because I could field a team filled entirely with centre backs. You would think with that many defenders at least some would be good but unfortunately that seems to not be the case. I transfer several out on frees and fire some more.
Midfielders – The opposite is true for mids, the team is in desperate need of depth at mid so I bring in two unemployed wingers to help me out.
Strikers – Here is where the class of the team lies. I have been gifted with three fairly good strikers including one speedy gonzalez that I am going to build my formation around.
Board expects me to fight bravely against relegation again. After last years debacle I’m not quite sure what I’m expecting.
This year saw the influx of several new faces that will hopefully turn the team’s fortunes around. We storm out of the gates again but then the injury bug hits and boy does it hit hard. My forwards were absolutely devastated by injuries, at one point my FIVE best strikers were out at the same time … yes that’s a FIVE. Needless to say it’s hard to win under those conditions and we once again well to the bottom of the table.
Once we got healthy though things changed for the better as we managed to string 12 unbeaten games together near the end of the season to take us clear of relegation. I really think we could have easily made the top ten if it weren’t for the injuries.

Although plagued with injuries again my little star did manage to pot in a very respectable 20 goals. Hopefully this good form continues on to next season.
Board expects me to fight bravely against relegation. I’m hoping for a mid table finish.
Things started out strong as I held a top ten place for the first couple games but then FM brought screeching back to reality. I went on the worst slide of my FM career, only managing to squeak out 2 wins in 25 games which left me sitting in 21st with six games left looking up from the relegation zone. Some how my boys managed to rally and get 10 points in those last six game moving us up to sit squarely in 20th. Take that Sutton Utd!

Oh and that speedy forward who scored 40 goals last season? He was injured half the time and only managed a measly 8 goals all season.
Board expects the same relegation fight as last year while I’m hoping we can stay strongly mid table.
This had to have been the most frustrating, hair pulling, screaming out loud in pain season I have ever been a part of. Everything that possibly could go wrong did go wrong as my team invented new ways to blow games in the last 5 minutes every week.
Combine that with the fact that my only scoring threat refused to score on breakaways and insisted on taking 2 month trips to the hospital when the other teams looked at him funny. I must say it was a season I’m glad is over.
After the horrors of last season this season was a surprising turn around. I decided I could no longer rely on my injury prone striker (18 separate injuries in 5 years which keep him on the injury list for a whopping 12 months) and blew my transfer money on two new strikers. He did however manage score his 100th league goal under me so I took out for dinner … bad idea he got food poisoning and spent another week in bed.
With the new guns we managed to stay near the top of the table challenge for promotion. Unfortunately we lost in the first playoff round even though we dominated both legs.
