Of course that post could be taken as no Irish team is ever going to win a European title, nor a Welsh title for that matter.
Which is just as valid |

Rep Power: 3 | Andy. How many seasons did you give it a go with in Europe? and what competitions were you enetered into?
I know that 1 of the qualifying stages for 1 of the European competitions is actually played at the end of the old season rather than the beginning of the new one.
How did you find the finance model in N.Ireland?

Which is just as valid | Didn't Newport Co get to the Qtrs of the UEFA Cup, (or equivelant), a few years back with Aldridge et al?
They were within the Welsh structure then i Think. Oh and by a few years back, I mean about 25ish years .

I can imagine it is very very very very very hard, but I wouldn't think that it is impossible to get through the first legs. Quote: 25/7/2005 Dudelange
The first Luxembourg side to win a European Cup/Champions League tie in 42 years! Remarkably they lost 0-1 at home to Bosnian side NK Zrinjski Mostar but won 4-0 away after extra time!

The Irish champions (2-3 down from the first leg) beat Hajduk Split 2-0 to become the first Irish side to reach round 3 of the Champions League qualifying
| Quote: 02-08-2004 Glentoran
The N.Irish side's 2-1 win in Finland against Allianssi in the UEFA Cup first round was their first victory in Europe in 23 years

Irish side defeated Malmo FF by 3 goals to one in the first leg of the Intertoto Cup 1st round
| Quote: 28-06-2004 Cork City
The Irish side do it again, winning 1-0 in Malmo to knock the Swedish side out of the InterToto Cup
| Granted there aren't many instances I can find, but it should be at least possible to win the early rounds.

| And Wrexham did it in the late 70's, losing to Anderlecht who went on to win it. I also remember seeing us play against Porto and Roma in the same season (beating Porto over two legs) - the season after Roma had lost to Liverpool in the "crazy-legs penalties" final, when a certain Swedish ex-England manager was their manager.

| Jimbo, my memory is already hazy; I have little time to play at the mo and when I do I'm bobbling around nowhere with Fisher.
All the examples you point out involve clubs which are well into their domestic seasons when the Euro qualifiers come around. As I said in my main gripe, in N. Ireland the players have JUST returned from holiday (in previous versions the manager could alter the return date but not in FM07). for me, that's the nub of the problem. The financial model is 'modest' but I'm sure it's realistic and I have no gripe with that.
