is there anyway i can play medium/large database? im not seeing any of the good youngsters and i really would like to play a game which has them so i can train them up for the future

I'm afraid the PSP game has a fixed database sie.

Presuming you're playing FMH07 then when the data editor is released if you really want you can cheat using that to work out which are the 'hot kids' in the game and find which ones to sign that way

No, not all players will show up on player search, even unfiltered.
eg. players with even one stat unscouted yet will not show up
To see all players (very time consuming) go to clubs and then go through the continent and country to display a list of clubs in that region. I find this very useful to use in South America to find young gems just after the regen introduction and also to see South Korean clubs for my national side, as many South koreans dont show up on player search or national pool
