here's a lesson for managers, the game's stats are king, here's an example that I experienced recently.
the fans were having a go at the recent performances of danny haynes and the board were backing them up. although they had a point, it was up to a point, as after an admittedly poor run, he had a rating of 7 in the previous too matches despite neither of them being wins and 1 being 0-0, so I decided to keep him in the team for the next game. little did I know how he would pay me back. he ran riot with 5 goals in a 6-0 away hammering of QPR, and he had the assist on the other one, giving him my only rating of 10 so far in almost 3 seasons (due to having to do quite a few essays this term, I haven't been able to play too much), plus he played really well after that. imagine how different things might have been had I bowed to fan pressure. my first fm moment of the 08 version that will truely live forever.
I didn't even get a 10 when the international version of me beat a team 9-0, probably because the glory was spread pretty evenly that time.
incidentally I put a shot of the match up on my FM album on facebook, and I tagged a QPR supporting friend in it as a joke. apart from claiming that my game must have SARS, as he reckoned QPR should have won 6-0, he took it very well.
