Default Question About Champions Leauge Places.

Im not too sure about how it works but im sure im suppost to be in the champions league here, but the league table says im in the euro cup.

I finnished fourth (the last place for champs league i think).

1st Man Utd
2nd Arsenal
3rd Chelsea
4th Newcastle (Me)

In the FA Cup liverpool (who finnished 5th) won chelsea and were entered into the euro cup.

In the League Cup Man City (who finnished 9th) won wigan and were also entered into the euro cup.

So is that a bug or something (im not a regular in these forums much, so if this has been answerd im really sorry for not finding it).

I havnt used any patches.

Not sure if this makes any difference, but when asked i did say yes to the entry of the euro vase competition thing.

Cheers

No this is normal. In real life this is the same...

The top three places in the Premiership go to Champ League. The FA cup winner gets the last Champ League spot, no matter where they finished. The League Cup winners get a Euro Cup spot.

This is when it gets confusing...

If the League Cup winner has already qualified through the Prem to the Champ League, the Euro Cup spot goes to 5th or 6th. If the FA Cup winner goes through to the Champ League already through the Prem, the Champ League Spot goes to fourth. The FA Cup runner up gets a EURO Cup spot no matter where they finish. If the runner up is in the top three or four that spot is passed on to 6th or 7th place.

I warned you, but this is how it works IRL. The Champ League winner has nothing to do with it.

No it isn't, the FA cup winner gets entered intothe UEFA cup and not Champions league.

Champions League places go to the top four teams (unless an English team wins the Champions league the previous year but finishes 5th or lower - this was following the incident a few years back where Liverpool were Champions league winners but finsihed 5th in the league, so England had five representatives)

Similar thing happened to me way back on FM06. I was second in the league on goal difference/Goals Scored/Games won/and Head to head and the third place team got promoted insted of me :S

only 1st 2nd are entered for the group stages

3rd 4th are in the qualifing rounds

your co-ef determines which qual round you enter

if you get knocked out you enter the uefa

the defending champs dont auto qualify anymore

No. that is wrong.

The top four in England qualifies for the Champions League. Top 2 goes straight into the group stages. 3rd and 4th are in the third qualifying round.

Unless the Champions League winner finishes outside the top 4. Then they take the place of the 4th place finisher in the league, who then goes to the UEFA Cup. Champions League winners always get automatic entry to the group stages of the next season's competition.

Cup winners always go to the UEFA Cup. Always. Unless of course, again, they have already qualified for the Champions League (or UEFA Cup through the league), then the place goes to the next best team in the league (League Cup) or the cup runners-up (FA Cup). If both finalists have qualified for Europe through the league (like last season, Arsenal vs Chelsea LC final and Chelsea vs Man U FA Cup final) then the place goes to the next best team in the Premier League.

It all sounds confusing now. But wait till Platini's plans come into effect. It will be worse!

And that's why Millwall had a UEFA Cup spot not long ago.
