I haven't played any SI footy manager sims since CM 03/04 but I've just ordered FM 2008 and it should arrive in a couple of days.
Anyway, I've read that some international teams (such as Germany and Japan) have fake squad members. So does that mean actual German/Japanese internationals (e.g. Ballack, Nakamura etc.) will never get called up by their country, thus never gaining any more caps?
Only once regens are produced can players start getting called up for Germany, Japan - and it's also the Netherlands and maybe another country, I forget who.
This, as far as I can see, has an adverse effect on their World Cup performances. In the 2010 World Cup in my game, in the last 16, the Dutch were trounced 5-0 by the USA. And wait for it... Germany lost 6-2 to England.
So regens can join the German national team? I thought that, since the team is entirely grey at the start, it would remain grey for all time, hence I never put the German league in the game. (This is only an assumption, though, as I've never got more than a few seasons into the game, so please correct me if necessary)
Yes, the licensing issues only apply for real life players. I haven't tried it, but I think if you don't use real players in the game, national teams like Germany will have players, and not be all grey.
I think its pathetic that the prem can be fully represented but germany (hate them!), many tme winners of the games biggest prize are not. Its a realism issue, and I suspect one SI have tried all they can to resolve - great shame though. What next, Vicky Beckham stops her hubby being represented cos his team sometimes loses and his salary isnt high enough?
