Tickers is infamous around these parts
Default Bad Refereeing Decisions and the pathetic aftermath

Hi all,

Sorry this is a (yet another) rant from a player. Perhaps someone from SI will read it, perhaps not, but I I'll feel better getting this off my mind.

Now - we all know that media interaction in this game is a somewhat farcical affair, but I think I've personally now just witnessed just how pathetic this game can get when dealing with the repercussions of an offside decision.

Recently in a game against Forest Green I had a goal ruled out for offside, given my players seemed 'furious' about the decision I thought I'd take a look at the replay, even though my normal reaction is to ignore these incidents after a couple of complaints in my first season wound up with a problem with my Board.

Lo and behold, the decision wasn't just a bit wrong, but totally and utterly incorrect, for evidence please see this link (the guy who scores is the number 23)

Offside?

Now having seen this the ire that hasn't raised it's head since 2008 (it's now 2012) burns within me, and I duly think it is my job to defend my team who eventually lost the match 2-1 to a late goal, so I state the fact - this was a shockingly bad decision.

Result?

I'm handed a further warning from the FA (clearly they've not forgiven me for my outburst four years ago)

My board are unhappy that I have drawn attention to the club for this reason

Replays 'indicate a correct decision' by the referee.

2 of my players are unhappy about my outburst, although the lad who was deemed offside did think I was right to speak my mind.

The woeful handling of interactions by FM08 are inexcusable given how long they've been identified by the fanbase. Since their first incarnation player and media interaction, team talks, board interaction and FA interaction have been languishing in either a broken or an incomprehensible state. I know it's been going on for a while but having just witnessed such a farcical event I'm now fed up of it.

To be honest I can barely tell the difference between match engine tweaks except on the occasions that SI decide to break the bloody thing - for me I really think this side needs a LOT of love, and if FM09 hasn't made any steps forward in this area then I shall seriously consider skipping FM for the first time in years.

Cheers
Tickers

PS ARGH!!!!!!!!!!

To your point, it is absolutely useless to respond to media speculation about referee's decisions. It does nothing but cause trouble, unless you agree with the decision. In that case, a couple of your players might express appreciation for your ability to take a loss without complaining, but it really does nothing for you either way.

This aspect of the game is worthless and should be removed.

i had exactly the same thing and was going to post along the same lines. Miles onside, i complained and was banned  farcical and completely pointless if even if you are right, it somehow makes the referee right

They have had YEARS to make it better, and they have done nothing, despite numerous topics on these forums that have asked for changes in this feature. I am now adding you to my ignore list, because I have had enough of your incessant apologetics, your sarcastic attitude, and your constant harassment of anyone who does not agree with your fanboy love for SI.

Huh? It didn't exist at all before '06, you make it sound like it's been around since the CM days.

My issue here is that, for me, it worked just fine last year, but now we get results like the one exampled in the OP. Somehow, they managed to break it for '08.

I'm with Ackter. Fix it, don't remove it.
