I started as Peterborough (not the most exciting team) in div2.
Looked in FM Scout, and did a filter for players not in club with a PA of more than 170. Found 5, 2 are 23 years old, another is 22. They have CA’s of 12, 20, etc I think the highest is 36. They all were happy to join my club.
BUT THEY WERE REALLY BAD. With averages of 5 and 6 ish in the first season. We were almost relegated..
I know it doesn’t happen immediately, but their stats never improved and I played them in every game, so kept giving them every change.
Of course Peterborough doesn’t have the most amazing coaches, but I tried to increase traits like work rate, technique etc, but nothing was effective. Another area I tried to increase was physical training as their speed, acceleration, etc was really low, like 3, or 4.. but nothing…
Is there any hope for these players in terms of getting their CA up?
Did I buy them too old??
Is there a limit to how old players with high PA’s should be bought if they have existing low PA’s??
My first bit of advice is that you put this in the wrong forum, it should be in training & tactics - a lot of the so-called "experts" in there dont look in the editors hideout as a lot of them consider editors cheating.
My experiences with this is that they won't become world beaters. You have signed them too late, even with world class coaching & facilities, they would be unlikely to reach PA.
They are playing poorly because the standard of the league is way higher than the standard of your players, if you can loan them to a club their level (probably Conf North/South) they performances may improve. If no-one will loan them then play your strongest team with these players on the bench, if you are 2-0 up with 30 mins left bring them on.
When signing players you are better off looking for players with a higher CA & ignore PA. Seen as your Peterbrough even if you get a player with high PA, once they are playing well a bigger club will make an offer that your chairman will accept.
thanks geordie hero. you are right, ive now put them on the bench and we are starting to win a few, and even better - their stats are starting to go up!
I dont know if that is because of the time they've been at the club or whether its because the team is winning and they are part of that team. They are still not good enough to be in the first team, but its promising..
i bought a japanese left back 2 seasons ago. no WP so i loaned him to palermo and milan for a year each. he was a regular but when he came back i didn't play him.
i've just looked at his stats and his CA is 159 and his PA is 198  he's 23 years old though.
i've looked at two of my youth players as well. they've come through the liverpool youth ranks.
my 20 year old right midfielder is 167/198 CA/PA and my 19 year old left midfielder is 171/199 CA/PA
problem is i'm getting bored of that save because i'm in 2018 or so.
