After reading wwfan TT&F thread very carefully, i really wanted to have a go at creating my own tactic set... but i'm struggling.
The idea i had is to make a set of 6 (poss 8) tactics based on RoO but with a difference, which i would like your views and input on.
I've gone for, instead of how the opponant sets up against you, beit home or away, and having to counter that tactic, i chose to base my tactics on a media prediction and current position style.
I thought you could have home and away tactics for teams predicted 1st-5th, 6th-10th and so on ,so 4 home and away.
ie- Bolton are predicted to come 9th in the 1st season, and say they are sat in 14th place when you play them, you would then add both postions (predicted and current) and divide to get a figure-11.5. Thus allowing you to select the H/A tactic for teams 11th-15th.
Could this be another way to (minimal) glory or is the idea flawed like avram grants chelsea!!!
All input recieved-btw using mufc on 7.0.2. with now new signings.
I don't see a lot of merit in it sorry. You are almost exclusively takng the medias thoughts on board and ignoring things like their set up on match day, scout reports, managers style and tactical ability, players within the squad, weather (to a lesser extent), injuries and potential home ground advantage.
The only thing you are really takin ginto account that might be useful is teir current position which might be indicative of form which is important.
You are ignoring too many other important aspects that are available to you. However all that said, if it works and you start nailing them then kudos to you.
Perrsonally I think this is roo rigid to succeed altho I do see where you are coming from- If you take your template but are prepared to adjust it dependant on your own team form, match odds and the other team form, then it could be used as a base to start with.
I may be too ambitious when I say this. Its possible, within limits of course. The new engine makes a few things possible now...those attacking fullback runs that brazil used to make...possible...how about the 3 man midfield and 3 man defense of Holland also possible. So much to do... so I guess we all will find our pet projects
