Tactics & Training Tips

It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

Default Targetman Positioning (FM08)

Hi Everyone, I was just thinking I would get your thoughts on the positioning of my targetman.

I am not great when it comes to tactics so I hope I am not asking a silly question!

I have always had my left hand striker (in a 4-4-2) as my target man and set him to few forward runs.

When I start my FM08 game proper I have decided to use Timmy Cahill as my targetman from the start (pending injury!) and I would just retain his as a striker, which worked well in FM07.

However it occured to me that it might work with him "in the hole". In my simple brain I thought this would give him 2 strikers to flick onto rather than just the one in my normal formation.

What do you think? Should a targetmen be right up the pitch or could you have one in an advanced midfield role?

I will be trying this in the demo myself, but I would also like the Experts oppinion on this!

Cheers all

E.B.
