Whether the ideas that follow my request depend on the overall direction SI wants these forums to take. I can use whatever people use in this thread to influence how T&TF can evolve within reason of course.
So what do you guys want out of the forum for FM2008.
Here are some of my thoughts..please feel free to suggest, this isn't the mods forums, its here to serve a greater purpose afterall.
a. There have been some great contributors in the past and I want to acknowledge them, I may leave some out inadvertently and I apologise..
wwfan
Buxton
Jep
Supersaint
Noel from days long past
Cleon
Leroy
Dayle Wood
thomit
Neonlights
Asmodeus
Abramovich
..the list goes on like I mentioned my apologies if anyone has been left out.
Without these guys the forums would have been nothing, their work has contributed a great deal to the forums, and we want to encourage more threads like this, which is why I protect these threads so fervently from being hijacked. The good work of these posters needs to be protected. In future I will endeavour to do the same.
b. Apart from that..FM2008 is quickly coming near..in line with that I plan to release a thread that covers these areas..work on it is almost complete, but a lot of it will change with more input from the rest.

Choosing the Assman
Teamtalks...haven't started on it yet
Sliders - an explanation of them and how they are linked
Fundamentals of tactic creation..how the sliders work together and how player instructions can influence them.
Step by step guide on how I would make a tactic I've chosen three tactics already and have tested them out: 451, 433 and a 4141.
There are bound to be other threads as well coming up and it'll be only good for the forum and to help out those who need it.
c.I also plan to get SI more involved in some of the threads by asking them to respond to some questions..perhaps a thread will be created where SI will respond. We need to limit the number of questions as well and we have to understand that they can't reveal all.
d.The Xbox360 version of FM will be available as well sometime in the future and being an Xbox player myself I can emphasize with those who are looking for tactics so in future for those who want to upload tactics, would asking them to provide a screenshot of the instructions be too much?
We also want quality tactics to be uploaded. So I suggest we follow the existing rules so that these tactics serve a greater good. The reason is simple. People need more information from the thread so that they too can learn on how to use it, and sometimes even go on to create their own.
I dislike gloat tactics a great deal cos they give a false sense of success, there is no way to assure people that the tactic is fully tested so OPs need to indicate how long the tactic has been tested for and with whom.
e. Methinks some of us can get together to do an FAQ of the most popular questions, such as how do I score more goals or what do I look for in a good defender?
I was also thinking of a competition but here I'm flummoxed, not knowing how we could judge something so difficult and arbitrary.
Overall I haven't been able to contribute as much as I used to, work commitments are great and I'm focusing a lot of energy and doing some work so that you guys can get off to a good start for FM2008.
What I would like to see is a collaborative post where we merge our theories and test them with different teams and divisions. This way we would be able to confirm the validity of the theoretical approach and hopefully diagnose any problems 'collectively' that people may be having. I am quietly confident that we are going to have a better manual this 'season' and I reckon that a significant number of previous issues will be eliminated right away.
Going home now to play HALO 3, the second most exciting game of the year
Not a bad idea, though I'm definitely short on time to do collaborations nowadays. It could also help to answer the question, whether there is one unified way to play the game? I'd like to think that there is more than just one way to skin the cat.
If we are to look at elements of the match engine, I would encourage anyone who wants to do a long hard look at it to do with with pkms in mind. That way if there are any strong valid concerns these can be raised to SI fairly easy. A sweeping statement with screenshots won't work, they need pkms and saved games, that way something can actually be done.
At the end of the day, what the board will throw up are just theories, you'll probably hear the same coming out from SI. I will probably enlighten posters on what SI's take on some of the sliders as well. I've already had some information regarding the sliders, and would definitely want to share this with the rest of the lot.
One thing i have noticed...is that different leagues in different countries need different styles. The english game is typified by high tempo, the same, however can't be said of Spain or Italy.
I don't think its bad to post tactical ideas, Dayle. wwfan has made some great posts, there shouldn't be "intellectual rights" on a certain way of playing. What SI have done is to make the game as realistic as possible. An wwfan's approach takes that, if you want to go get goals, you can park yourself in their half, play a controlled game or defend with quick counters.
Aren't those just a logical way of playing. He puts those ideas into tactics and shows how they can work. I believe that a lot of approaches will all share things in common so posting tactics will not necessarily be a conflict of rights.
going to update the FAQ list as well..looking like this now..any other stuff should go in?
I've already worked on the FAQ Cleon...almost done. It'll cover:

Methinks including player attributes for positons here will also be good, that way the bible can be a focal point for good threads that discuss things in depth.
The bible should ideally cover.
