It's no use having a squad full of star players without a decent way for them to play their football.

For 3 you can also add the following if you agree with me of course:

Creative player needs to be given room to be affecting hence he should not given intensive closing down

Be careful when instructing players to do "forward runs" often as this can drag the player out of a vital position defensively.

Keep the tactic balanced in that even if all the players can run with the ball that doesn't mean that they should. They can be intercepted while in possession leading to goal scoring opportunities for the opposition .

I know some of these are basic tips but it should help out anyone new to the game

How about a topic discussing the different effects that pitch sizes would have on tactics?

I've done that as an intro to the new features of FM2008...good idea to have it in the FAQ too. Naturally being a new feature more ideas will come and they will be included in the FAQ. The FAQ is pretty long now...looks like a lot of hyperlinking to help people find information quick is needed

Think I'll do this too.

How do I play like arsenal
How do I play patient build up football
How do I play with overlapping wingers
How do I play defensive counterattacking football

Sorry I should expand on the idea.

People will need to understand why choosing such dimensions for their Home Pitch, would have an affect on how they should setup their tactics. And how going Away to a pitch totally different from the Home pitch would mean altering the tactics to suit the situation.

I know some of it is logic regarding wide pitches could utilise with to stretch the play.

But maybe more ideas could be bought to eapand on the Idea.

Good ideas here.

I only have 2 suggestions off the top of my head...

1) Difference in countries and the styles;

2) Defending set pieces

I particularly like 2), and as Rachidi mentioned in his opening post about attacking corners, I would love to base a game on solid play while being deadly at set pieces.

I have a few there..

sth like this...

Conflicting instructions can confuse your players and unbalance your formation.
Counterattacking - and short passsing without TTBs. You are not using the options correctly Its counterproductive

Giving your players a high mentality and then dropping your dline, this is dangerous, its not entirely conflicting but it does make your playing area bigger and make your player conditions drop.

Playing direct passing on slow tempo. Tempo affects how fast or slow a play builds up. Direct passing is naturally fast, so slowing it down is not advisable

Giving a player RWB often and TTB often is a conflict. One is ideal for a hold up man the other for a dribbler.

A conflicting instruction is any instruction that creates oppositon between an attacking action and a defensive action. Give defensive actions to defensive players and offensive instructions to offensive players. If you want to play defensive, then choose options that help you either control the game or play a quick counterattacking game.

anything else you guys wanna add?
That's great, that's the stuff I'm interested in.

Maybe also a guide on survival after a promotion..How to avoid the yo-yo affect.
