An wwfan's approach takes that, if you want to go get goals, you can park yourself in their half, play a controlled game or defend with quick counters.
Aren't those just a logical way of playing. He puts those ideas into tactics and shows how they can work. I believe that a lot of approaches will all share things in common so posting tactics will not necessarily be a conflict of rights.

wwfan - cheer mate. my issue is that sometimes i give people advice and they thank me but the foundation of that advice originated with you. So I feel uncomfortable with the credit I might recieve from time to time.
I'm more like you tactical disciple! |

To a large extent, all of us are collators of ideas as wwfan puts it. Eventually we all gravitate towards the same principles on how to play the game. We may differ slightly and there be small variations based on our risk tolerance, but we all have purpose in mind, the growth of knowledge.

If anyone wants to help out on the FAQ please do. I'm going to add on more later when I get some time..juggling a lot of things at the same time.....
The plan I thought was this:
The forums will have a large FAQ..covering the most popular questions, I haven't finished yet..probably will include tonnes of other information including feeder clubs as well. Tips on playing LLM, managing without funds..examples of attacking tactics...
I'll probably pillage some of the good threads esp amaroqs one as well... some of the infor comes directly from PaulC as well and he's behind the match engine.
The FAQ will have the basic questions answered, leaving the bible for more detailed discussions and applications so people don't need to go digging in multiple threads for information.
Dayle your match preps could become hints as well ...ideally the format will be kept simple like..
a. What is mentality and how do I use it.
Mentality affects positions and is a risk management tool. The higher the mentality the more risks you take attacking...(things like that) I've been working on the FAQ and doing other stuff as well.
So any input would be appreciated. The goal is to get it out by the time the new forums open or the demo is released.

From personal experience I would like to see topics such as

Playing to your teams strength

Identifying opponents weaknesses and exploiting them

Avoiding conflicting instructions

included in the FAO as I see these points being the main reasons as to why people cant get to grips with FM07

Hmm ok will add those in as well.
1..first one is generally quite straightforward...how about how to defend your own weakness as well.
2. That's kewl, oft neglected, and very basic.
3. Fairly straightforward.
Will try and add this in tomorrow.

ok I merged one and two and did 3 separately...any ideas on what to include for 3.
I have a few there..
sth like this...
Conflicting instructions can confuse your players and unbalance your formation.
Counterattacking - and short passsing without TTBs. You are not using the options correctly Its counterproductive
Giving your players a high mentality and then dropping your dline, this is dangerous, its not entirely conflicting but it does make your playing area bigger and make your player conditions drop.
Playing direct passing on slow tempo. Tempo affects how fast or slow a play builds up. Direct passing is naturally fast, so slowing it down is not advisable
Giving a player RWB often and TTB often is a conflict. One is ideal for a hold up man the other for a dribbler.
A conflicting instruction is any instruction that creates oppositon between an attacking action and a defensive action. Give defensive actions to defensive players and offensive instructions to offensive players. If you want to play defensive, then choose options that help you either control the game or play a quick counterattacking game.
anything else you guys wanna add?
