After playing the demo with Manchester UNited with moderate success I have decided to play a half season with Fc Copenhagen.

Since they are by far the best club in Denmark I naturally wants to dominate the game.
By dominating i mean keep the ball at my possesion.

You know play powerplay in front of the opponents goal.

In FM 2007 I played 4-4-2 .
Creativity: Low
Passing: Short
Width: Broad
And I then appointed a central midfielder to be the playmaker.
Against mediocre teams my teams posseion of the ball would be about 60%.

So i wanted to do the same with FC Copenhagen in 2008, but I just cant seem to even get 50% sometimes.

I just seems that my defenders lets the ball go one round between them. Then they pass it to the midfielders who runs directly up to the box and tries something creative.

To me it seems very strange that the players are so direct all the time even though I order them to do the exact opposite.

Tell me am I doing this worng or do you face some of the same problems?

I wouldn't pay too much attention to finer details like this since closing down isn't working as well as expected.

I also have the same problem using ManUtd. I set the team short pass and quick tempo. But when the defenders collect the ball, they usually kick it to the front without passing to the midfielders. It is somewhat ridiculous.

the most annoying match is that when facing Derby in the Premier League at Old Trafford my possession is only 45%....how can that happening??

I dont think that the fact that most of the 2D engine is horribly imbalnced/unfinished is a bug.

Wow you are way off the mark with that comment.

Anything that might be construed as a bug is being seen to by SI and should be rectified with a patch.

1. Closing down - been reported and commented on and is being looked at.

2. Failig to score from set pieces - been commented on and is being looked at.

If there is anything else you think is not acceptable then you need to start a thread in the Bugs forum and send a PKM of the game to SI so that it can be looked at.

That way instead of making sweeping comments like you have which fail to land on any point in particular, you can contribute to the game by illustrating documented faults you have found.

Okay, maybe I lost my head there. Actually theres alot of initiatives from the game engine I like. Its just that I feel I have no control of how my team play.

Haven't tried FM2008 just yet, but in '07 I realised that playing a higher defensive line most affected possession positively. That and closing down in the middle of the park, combined with short passing and a slower tempo.

Try it out and ignore results, see if it helps possession and then work the rest from there
