Fernando Baiano from Real Murcia cost my Middlesbrough side 9m in january of the first season and saved my job scoring 14 goals in 12 games! Continued on from that this season with 7 in 9 alongside aliadiere who has 8 in 12.

Only into my second season but Van Persie was lethal for me. 46 in 47 games overall. Only problem is he seems tempremental (no choice but to sell him). For his weak mentality I say he loses the ability to be a FM great.
Although Sergio Aguero is a more than capable replacement, and as this game appears to favour speed I think it'll probably have to be him. 6 in 8 so far. Would have been more but I tried to be too clever with his individual instructions.
So yeah, I've only had 8 games with him but I say Aguero.

With Man UTD, i signed Doyle, Defoe and Julio Baptista. Baptista finished second top scorer and second top for assists. Defoe did well but not great. 2nd eason for Doyle he went 15 hours without scoring and only scored 4 all season. Terrible.

You really need a little more specific criteria than that. For how long? A season? Two or three? Five? Ten? Fast striker? Target Man? Playmaker/Goalscorer? What kind of system you play makes a big difference.
If I had to give one I'd say David Villa, he is a letal finisher, has pace, skill, good creative abilty, proven production and is still young.
For a short term target man - Luca Toni. For a 5 year target man - Amauri or Berbatov.
