Hi folks!
I'm currently managing Oxford United, won the conference in my first season after a few results went my way in the last weeks and we pipped Morecambe on goal difference!
Now i'm in League 2 and struggling... a lot. 21st after 16 games, having won 3, drawn 8 and lost 5. I've tried many things; exploiting my link with Pompey, tactical reshuffles, player shuffles, different mentalities... everything that won me the conference basically.
My strongest area is without a doubt my midfield, and as a result i've been playing my last few games with a **** formation, going into the games with a * mentality, players generally on good-very good morale. I thought with this formation i'm not going to be scoring many, but not conceding either. Started well with a 1-0 win at Brentford, 0-0 draw at Bristol Rovers, but then a 3-0 loss at Blackpool, and a 2-0 home loss to Darlington.
My star players this season have been a centre midfielder (good passer) and a Striker.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong, or am I just unlucky?
