The sadness of promotion
After leaving Walsall (well, being sacked) I've done the non-league tour of Farnborough and Chester (was crap with both clubs and left just prior to the end of the season - both improved immeasurably the season after, obviously due to the Bosmans I'd set up...).
I've now landed at Kettering and 17 free transfers later we're looking like promotion candidates judging by the first half of the season. However part of me doesn't want to get promoted. Success sees promising teams torn apart as we try to push into the pro ranks and the money needs to be made.
Maybe resignation is the answer...

Get a grip lads - it's ALL about the promotions. Why the heck else do we play the game?

Can I point and laugh at the fact you got sacked from one of the better League 2 clubs?
As for this not wanting promotion rubbish, what's the point of playing if you only ever strive for mediocrity?

After getting them promoted to League One?
It's not about not wanting to get promoted. It's about enjoying the non-league game.
But, hey, if you're not in the cool gang I shouldn't have expected anything different should I?

If you come in here expecting to be different, expecting to be ostracised by some perceived "cool gang", then you won't allow yourself to be disappointed.
Your poorly-spelling GQ buddy agreed with you. Start your
own cool gang

I wouldn't want to belong to anything that considered itself cool.
And if you enjoy the non-league game so much, why'd you start as Walsall?

And 17 free transfers who are obviously worth having, is this the advent of the super scout?
I've learnt the hard way that free tranfers who will join a genuine LL club are almost always decrepit, degenerate or both.
