How exactly did you come across all these foreign players, anyway? I wouldn't imagine an Indonesian side would have the resources to find players from South America or Africa.

I dunno about the FM aspect as I haven't managed in that country, but living in SE Asia I watch regional soccer on the TV; there are plenty of Brazilians, Africans etc in the region. IIRC Singapore has a team entirely comprised of African players.

I think Singapore HAD a team comprised of African players. I think it got shut down due to some dodgy practices.

Back on track again, after 2 weeks in hospital with a subtalar fusion surgery. Which was a correction surgery after two surgeries in November. Which were caused by a traffic accident.

Nice time since, you can imagine. Too much time for FM.

First some answers:

- Finding foreign players: I'm still only able to scout Indonesia (plus my feeder team in Brunei), but there are loads of foreigners. 3 are allowed in the second, 5 in the first league, and almost all teams have their limits on full.

New foreigners are few and far between, though.

At the moment I have 6 foreign-born players, but all gained nationality having played in Indonesia for 5+ years.

- Singapore: crazy league. There's this African team, there is a Japanese team, and a Chinese team, and maybe a Korean team as well.

Persikad, Indonesian Premier League Group B, 2011

Board, fans: mid-table

Media: 6th

C'mon, what's this pessimism after a championship?

Last year's winning team looks all right, but there is a big hole on the left wing. Being unable to scout abroad, and our reputation being still crappy, no decent players wish to come. A Liberian AM/F C solves things there somewhat, but far from the real deal. Other newcomers include a talented DMC, and a young AML. The team certainly has more depth than in last year.

Unlike last year, we don't rocket off, just going steadily, never being out of the first four. Schedule is really peppered with cup appearances, June being extremely killing with 9 matches. We finish the month with a 8-1-0 record, and shoot up the top of our group. July seems to be more relaxed with the Asian Championships approaching. That is until I find out that we're invited to the totally pointless AFF Club Championships. Damn.

With two matches to go we lose to rivals Persijap, so they overtake us, but we gain first place with a 4-0 win in the last round, and Persijap losing.

Second phase kicks off with a draw (and the stupid ref disallowing a goal with no reason whatsoever in the 88th min), then we win 2-0. Last match against Arema gives some ways to go. With a loss we go out, with a win we're into the championship final, and with a draw anything can happen. We scrape together a draw, pray next day for a draw between the other two teams. Allah is big. They draw 2-2, so we're into the final again! Meanwhile, we reach the final of the Indonesian Cup as well.

Championship final is a re-match of last year against Persijap. Last time we won with major luck, this time we lose 1-0 in a very even match. Both central defenders misjudge the ball in the 86th minute, striker scores, and that's it. Runners-up. I have to say that must be some kind of justice to Persijap after last year's final.

Cup final is a surprisingly easy business. We go out and thrash PSM 3-0, giving the club its first cup win ever.

Nice season again. We have cash in the bank, but I can't really spend it until our reputation goes higher. Facilities are improved at least. We're up to adequate

League, 1st Phase

Indonesian Cup:

Knocked out Persipur, Bangkalu, Persipura and Persiraja easily. Semi-final was a tough business, but we battled it out against Persita (2-1,1-1).

Final: PSM 3-0

Winners
---

Asian Champions' League

Nice performance.

- GDT Long An (Vietnamese champions): 1-0 (A), 3-1 (H)

- Jubilo Iwata (Japanese champions): 3-1 (A), 0-0 (H)

- Pohang Steelers (Korean runners-up): 1-1 (H), 1-2 (A)

Pos.: 2nd
P: 6 W: 3 D: 2 L: 1 9-5 11pts

Out as there's only one place to go to the next round, Pohang took it.

AFF Club Ch'ship (Southeast Asian crappy coconut-picking cup, which really sucks, and absolutely unneeded )

QF: Melaka Telekom (Malaysia) 3-2 AET

SF: BEC (Thailand) 0-1

3rd place: Gombak Utd. (Singapore) 4-0
---

Super Cup

That's quite a large thread for one season...Could do with just a brief overview of how you did in your continental cups.

KUTGW, though!

Persikad, Indonesian Premier League Group B, 2012

Board: top half, fans: mid-table

Media: 5th

Not much changing going on in the squad. In comes a Liberian AML to ease somewhat our notorious left-side problem, together with a young Indonesian winger. I swap my substitute goalie for a backup wingback (the guy was too good to sit on the bench), grab a mediocry crap backup GK and sell my 5th choice striker.

Championship's first stage is easy business, we quickly go atop, and sit out comfortably there. Finally we end up leading the pack by 12 points. Meanwhile, we do well (but crash out) in the Asian Champions' League, and our cup retaining challenge is also cut short (and not so nice).

Of course my best scorer is out just before the playoffs start (nice job from an opposition right back ). The remaining strikers go on strike. We blew two 1-0 leads (both finish 1-1), and before the last round, we need to win agains Persijap, with whom we played the last two championship finals. We also have one eye on Persitara, who can also reach the final. Persitara do away chanceless Gresik (2-1), so we need a win of two goals/3-2 or more scoring one-goal victory. I can't figure it out what will happen if we also win 2-1, because then we're tied in every stat.

Guess what? We win 2-1 with major luck, turning a hopeless match around between the 71st and the 73rd minute.

So we and Persitara have both 5 points, 4-3 GD, and we tied each other. I doN't know why, but it's us progressing to the final (maybe the better first phase position decides, but it's not written in the rules).

So, a 3rd successive final then.

Final is one-sided, we play the game, and Persipura score the goals. They score from a defensive shutdown and a dubious penalty, and we can't get back into the game in the second half. Another silver in the trophy room.

Cup

Out against Persedikap in the third round.
---
Super Cup

Win agains Persijab, 1-1 AET 4-2 on penalties.
---
Asian CL
Horror group. Two wins (!) against Korean champions Chunnam, two draws agains Australian Central Coast, a draw and a loss against Japanese runners-up Yokohama Marinos. Out as usual in the group stage.

Awards:

Top goalscorer + Fans' POY: young Indonesian ST
Highest avg.: Cameroonian winger, 7,23

As the year ends, we turn pro, and for the first time ever, I'm allowed to scout Southeast Asia.
