Well I started my first game follwoing the LLM rules exactly. I've been a LLM in the past and basicly followed the LLM rules (SWYCT, no real-world knowledge, etc.) but this time now that I upgraded from 01/02 to 2006 I decided to make sure I followed all the rules.

I selected Northwich Victoria from the English Conference North. The board immediately gave me no money for transfers and told me they expected nothing less than the title for the 05/06 season. Huh, nothing like a challenge to start with. My squad looked good early on, but it lacked depth, so I sent a scout out to find me some cheap young kids I could train. This keeps me just barely over the salary budget for the season and the board doesn't seem too upset about it.

We got off to a solid start and spent most of the season in the top couple of spots. The next to last fixture of the season found me away from home needing only a win to claim the Championship and my boys came through, delivering the trophy.

Up to Coference National for the 06/07 season and the board decides to take the team professional, opening up a larger salary budget but still no real transfer budget. The board just expects me to avoid relegation, but that looks to be difficult as it takes me 14 games to get my first professional win, and my future is not looking good, though the board contiunes to be pleased. My defense is giving up goals right and left and desperate measures are called for. In the winter transfer season I make wholesale changes to the squad, throwing the salary budget to the win to find anyone that will help me stay up. My desperation moves work out as the team gets results and I finish in 15th, though there are questions about my finances from the media.

For 07/08 the board wants to avoid relegation gain, and I get off to a flying start. A young striker scores 20 in the first third of the season and I'm challenging for the title. My budget is still out of control though, so I have to sell the young forward that saved my season last year at the midway point, and this seems to affect my young star as his goal scoring drops of and he gets a 3 match ban for kicking a player after a whistle, then gets upset when I warn him about his behavior. After scoring 20 in the first third he only scores 9 for the rest of the season and my fortunes wane. However I still hang around the playoff zone but late in the season a couple of results go against us and we fall to 8th. Still an improvement from the previous season and I managed to get the budget closer to reality. The young striker has 1 year left on his contract, but is already demanding more than I can fford, so I sell him for 375K, of which I get to keep 140K for my transfer budget, which I use to bring in a new playmaker and striker and save 90K for the next season.

08/09 is upon me, and the board seems to be losing faith as all they request this season is to invest in youth and improve the squad. That's not a good sign for my fortunes this season, nor is the fact that I'm WAY over my salary budget to start the season. Let's see what the season brings shall we?

Season 4 started off on a great note. I shot up the table and stayed i nthe playoff region through the holidays. My striker/attacking mid combo I bought in the off-season were golden. I went through a post-holiday let down, dropping out of the playoff region and had to get the boys straightened out. We also got to the FA Trophy Quarterfinals. My changes worked, and we climbed back up to 2nd by the end of the season, but got dumped out of the FA trophy.

The playoff semifinals awaited, but we lost the first game on the road by 1. We had to get the result at home and it was a hard fought match, going all the way to PK's to decide it, with success for the home side! On to the final when we won 3-2 to secure promotion to League 2!

My striker/attacking mid combo combined for 43 goals and 27 assists over the season, with my stiker winning the conference golden boot award. unfortunately I only signed him for two seasons, and his success drove him out of my price range, so I had to sell him before the start of the 09/10 season for 475K, and I'm trying to invest in some young players with what funds I got to keep.

The board just wants me to battle against relegation this year, and get my salary budget under control (Which I allowed to balloon last season during my promotion run). The off-season has seen a lot of selling of high-priced backups to try to do that. Hopefully I haven't thinned my ranks too much.

My first season in league football started off much like my first season in the Conference, badly. 4 games before we scored a goal and 13 games in before we were on the right side of the scoresheet and it wasn't looking good. My defense was getting the job done, but my offense couldn't score in a brothel. I sent my scout out to find me some attacking midfielders and forwards that I could get in the winter transfer window. I found a striker and a right winger that immediately joined the starting 11, and a solid backup winger. This energized the replacement for my star striker from last season, leading him to 15 goals on the season, and dragging the Trickies up to 15th in the table. We went deep into the Vans Trophy, but other than that our cup runs were forgettable. Still the board wasn't too upset with the result of the season, though they said they were dissapointed even though all they wanted me to do was to avoid relegation. Must be the amount of money I spent.

On to Season 6, and the board wants me to avoid relegation again. I commited the same mistake with my replacement striker, signing him for only two seasons, and his late-season surge put him out of my price range so I sold him on for an even million, which gives me a transfer budget to work with. I still have an out of control salary budget that the board wants me to address though, so we'll see.

Nice read - KUTGW.

This is the first time i've read an update where a teams turned professional straight after getting promoted

Good luck turning the finances around whilst also keeping the team in League Two.
