First round of the Italian cup, season 2012-2013.

We draw Juventus, the income from the away game; 2,000,000 euros.

I'm convinced, the San Greal exists.

That's actually extremely unrealistic. I remember a few years back that an Italian Cup match for Juve at the Delle Alpi against a Serie B team drew less than 1000 fans.

Still, good for you.

I see where you're coming from Turnip, I wasn't entirely sure why 70000 would turn up against my recently promoted Serie B side.

But then again, I do fill up my 12k stadium every week and my team is from near Turin, so there would probably be some interest from the fans.

It may be somewhat unrealistic, but who am I to reject 2m extra income.

Cups Suck Ass.

Thanks to Iain, who has just provided us with the exception that proves the rule.

Every rule must have at least one exception to validate itself.

You'd be a fool if you did.
Attendances are screwed up in general in FM. According to this source, Serie A average attendance is only marginally higher than my small team manages at present. In fact, the Wikipedia entry for the Italian Cup states that this mind-numbingly pointless competition is an anomaly in Europe for its low attendances.

It's hardly surprising considering the uninspiring format of the competition and the way it more or less ensures that any lower-level teams require a miracle to progress.

All that considered, though, I'd imagine that this issue probably doesn't rate that high on SI's list of priorities.

I am pretty sure that these statistics are not accurate. Even though they state a current date, they only take into account about 5 home games, as can be seen with the total attendance figures.

Maybe.
It's a bit tricky to find accurate Serie A attendances, but if you assume that the ones here are at least close approximations, I make the average attendance for April so far to be just over 18500, which is even lower than the ESPN article suggests.

Lucky.

The best I had was a draw against Preston North End at the Deepdale, probably in 2009.

Not as good, as ManU away, but I can only say that playing AIK away at the Swedish Cup also resulted in a commercial windfall \o/

And a club record 0-6 defeat /o\
