As you probably know by now, i'm a reformed player, i'm now a LLaMa if i may be so pretentious.
Anyway, i've been reading over the rules to LLM and as much as i agree to them on the whole i do wonder about 1 or 2 things...
Firstly, not being allowed to search for players by name, i do understand but if we're trying to be realistic then could it not be argued that on the way to the training ground this morning i read in the local paper that PLAYER X is wanting to move away from CLUB B for whatever reason, then i could type his name into the search bar and send a scout to that exact player seeing how i know of him.
I'm not a football manager who knows nothing beyond the fence of my own club; player names crop up all the time in the press.
I'm only asking this as just this morning in my local paper (IRL) the above mentioned scenario unfolded and that got me thinking...
Secondly, even before my venturing into LLM i'd never actually used the search screen to "Filter" players according to position and attributes (no, really i didn't) because i always managed a big club and searched for specific players by name according to reputation. But how do i go about loaning players now without knowing who is available to loan? I've yet to see a scout report say "this player is loan listed" - Do they say that and have i just yet to see it? - it is early days.
I have no intention of bending the rules to my own gain as like i said in my first post i'm going to do it properly, i would just like these grey areas cleared up if you would be so kind.
a) You can scout players that appear in news items in-game. (you don't have to use the search screen to do that, just click on the name and get scout report). You can not use real life knowledge of players in the game, and that's why the search screen isn't allowed. As said, you don't need it to scout players in your mailbox.
b) If a player is listed for loan, it will say so in the scouting reports. (And I believe, 'though I'm not certain, that you can filter your scout reports to list only loanlisted players.)
If you go onto your scout's list of reports, under 'View', you can select Contract, which should show if anyone is listed for loan.
And what freek_teek said. Real life knowledge is a no-no. There are of course players whose names appear on the back of football shirts worn by remote Amazonian tribesmen, but since there's no chance those players will sign for Useless Twats FC, it's a moot point.
Send your scouts out on anyone you feel like if they appear in a news item, though.
I must add just one thing to what's been said (which is all valid points).
I would indulge myself into signing Stevenage's target man after suffering him for 3 seasons. He's torn us apart every time he's played against us and fullfills perfectly a role for which I don't have a player available.
Even if I hadn't scouted him, which I've done like 8 times in the past 3 seasons, I would still allow myself to sign him.
I see, from the beginning i'm blind to the world around me and as the game progresses i learn via news items and what-not about what players are out there.
