Default Return of the SuperGoalie?

Something I've noticed (I'm in 2014/15 in FM08) is that the incidence of the supergoalie seems to have increased.

In the last few games, sometimes against lowly opposition, there has been a noticeable increase in the multiple point-blank saves by, frankly, mediocre players. Players with a low 6 rating and goals conceded generally double the games played.

Anyone else noticed?

I'm delighted to report, though, that aquaplaning seems to be a thing of the past[/tentative]

I always feel that it's me who's responsible for the game, whether winning, drawing or getting arsed.

Ian, I'm sure you're aware that 8.0.1 has an issue with strikers running free through the middle and the subsequent clear cut chances, aren't you?

That being said, yeah... if your players don't score their first 5 shots on goal you're in for a rough ride and some stellar saves by the oposition keeper. No matter his previous form or his abilities.

I'm more worried about the unrealistic number of shots per game than superkeepers.

There have been too many games in my current save that have seen both sides muster 20+ chances per game, games like this should only come around once in a blue moon but I seem to be involved in a few every couple of months.

I can only assume SI have sacked the psuedo Irish (but I'm really Scottish) midfielder & replaced him with the 'I quit' Geordie as their tactical advisor.

I agree. I think the SuperKeeper is the AI trying to rebalance things otherwise you'd lend up with rubgy scores rather than football.

Having said that I haven't suffered from that thankfully (I seem to be the one having the supergoalie actually). I believe this lies with the fact that I have been blessed with strikers that score rather quickly due to favourable stats. It seems that we take the foot off the pedal and we don't create too many chances so the opposite GK is not pelted.

Also my tactic (fairly basic, nothing fancy) tends to reduce the strikers being clean through.

Tell you what...[/bigron]

My AssMan is a wuss. I always look to see what he'd say at halftime and fulltime, and the talk I give is always one hell of a lot harsher than his.

"Sympathise", my arse...you were playing shyte!!!

I agree with there being too many games where the shot count is far too high. That said the first three games of my current season have been 0-0, 0-0, 1-0 with low shots so it's possibly just a tactical thing.
