I'd play messi at AMR to be honest. It's his natural position. If you are worried he is too far forward you shouldn't be becuase after all you have given them a DMC which is overcompensating for the defence.

If I was you I'd have to central midfielders... one like Xavi who could be the playmaker with his dazzling passing andcreativity. The other would be someone like Yaya Toure playing a more reduced role asa holding midfielder. You couldbarrow him if you wanted to effectively he is you DMC. Give him no forward runs and a more conservative mentality so he is linking up with defence more.

If you are intent on using a DMC however then you have to remember to drop your D/line otherwise he will just be another DC.

This thread just opitimizes why Im so fed up with this game.
Barcelona have an astonishing team who irl are scoring for fun, Messi in particular.

In FM08 it is seemingly impossible to re-create this.

I can't keep possession, have lost to Charlton, drew 4-4 with Newcastle, 1-1 at Fulham and 4-3 at Leeds!!!

The game is rotten. It should be easy if your Barca to win games, even with a relatively basic knowledge of tactics and sliders.

I finished the demo undefeated with Barcelona so I think you are way of. My tactics were a rough diamond too (ie/ just started with a standard setup and didn't make a lot of changes).

The demo hasn't been ideal for creating tactics as such yet because there are a few unresolved issues that need the attention of a patch.

However that said to call the game rotten at this early stage before even a patch is applied is grossly jumping the mark.

I suggest you hold fire on ill-timed comments like that until you have had the benefit of the patch.

Aye what Dayle says really. Plus even with the current bugs the match engine is still better than 07

with this match engine in demo08 it favours attacking fotball more then before.i have won with 9-0 with barca and so on.in fm07 defensive counter tactics where way more effective then in fm08demo

I was thinking that, but I cant imagine you would organise all your friendlies against English sides... Plus who pays attention to friendlies anyway, I just use them to get my players match fit.
