Ok, I am on my fourth play through of the '08 demo and the three first ones were pretty bad, though not abysmal.
Then for this game with west ham I sell my LB as I am sure to get a replacement, except all four players I bid on choose other clubs and I am convinced I am SOL. Not so!
I devise a tactic:
dc-dc-dc
-dm-dm-
--cm--
rw---lw
-fw-fw-
And I do as well as can be expected of West Ham. I play with an attacking mentality for a few games, until Liverpool comes for a visit. I change the mentality to defensive and...WOW! I rule the pitch. Posession, goals, passes everything works great even against Chelsea and Arsenal.
How on earth does this work? The flanks are wide open and the center of the pitch is almost empty. The way I see it this tactic should not be very good, and especially not this good.
So the question is: Why is it so effective?
