I don't know if 08 is easier than 07, but I have created a tactic that gives me consistent results so far and would like others to give it a try as well. The likes of Chelsea and Arsenal were easily beaten by it. I use it now with Man Utd, in the following line-up:
Sar
Neville Vidic Ferdinand Evra
Ronaldo Scholes Carrick Giggs
Tevez Rooney
It is a somewhat attacking formation, so it could be vulnerable at the back, especially with an underdog team I assume.
Give it a try and I am curious about your findings.
Some extra info: use creative wingers, the defensive midfielder should be positioned on the left-centre in midfield and the attacking right-centre. The strikers are divided in one striker holding up the ball and having less creative space (left-sided), and the other as a pure creative goalscorer (right).
