I think there are too many variables in the game to allow anybody to make clear accusations about the game. I was playing with Leeds lately and had won promotion to the championship (playing on weegie) and my team struggled to perform in the first half of the season but with good players and a good tactic i stayed in the play off zone. I left this game a while ago and came back to it in the last few days. I hit some great form and started beating teams, now this could be down to multiple things. It could be down to signings, but i only brought in a few experienced squad players on frees, who would only be back up. I didnt change my tactic. What i did do is come back to this game after struggling with better teams in the top leagues and had a different view i think, made some good team talks and one of my strikers, who played alot in the first half of the season but didnt get a single goal, hit some monster form and is on a goal scoring rampage! He was unsettled in the summer and i think he might only have got over it now. He got attention in the media and i gave him the praise he deserved. Now Im top of the league. If Hammer, you think the game cheats or whatever then i say go as utd or liverpool or barcelona or somebody and win the league. If you dont then its down to you and not the game because no matter what you or anyboody else says, the quality of player matters. So i give you this challenge: start a thread called'Am I crap at tis game or does it cheat' or an alternative along those lines. Take a proven tactic and spend your budget on good players. There will be no excuses then. And btw getting beat by utd and arsenal is to be expected when you're west ham. Better teams have better players who dont neef many chances to score. Sorry for going off topic as this is about brazils tactic and not a 'the game cheats' discussion.

This is our recent run straight after the Arsenal fiasco.
We dont look like a side who struggle defensively, having let only 5 goals in in our last 9 games.
Again Brazil, this is NOT about the tactic, its about the game itself and how its impossible to know why these seemingly "one off" games happen so often?.
Very much like why the games like the City one below are also consistently played out?.
These games whilst i agree are witnessed in RL, happen week in week out in 07, whilst in the real World they are only seen intermitently and even less so with the same team involved!.

Then you get this...
Liverpool started with their customary 4-2-3-1, but at HT they changed to a 4-4-2 with long farrows, so i tweaked accordingly, which i have found so far to reduce the opposition to shots from distance.
This was very much the case, apart from two instances where Kuyt used his pace to go past my two DC's, which would be fine, but again this is where the game does'nt add up?, as i had Davies and Upson playing my CB roles and BOTH have better acceleration and pace than Kuyt, yet because the game CANNOT distinguish these stats in certain areas of the pitch, we get turned over second half and record our 1st defeat in 10 games?.
Awful.

Now its Wigan's turn in the QTR Final of the two bob cup.
After a tight 1st half in which we found ourselves a goal down, we come out 2nd half playing some wonderful football and manage to get into a 3-1 lead.
Wigan go 4-2-4, but we look ok, until again we hit the 80th minute mark and all hell breaks loose!.
Wigan score two late goals and we're off into ET, where Konchesky under no pressure decides to give a penalty AND the game away and we're back to leaking goals like a sinking ship leaks water?. |

Here we go again...
This is what people are complaining about and with good right!.
This is now the 4th or 5th result of this nature so far, add that together from only grabbing the odd point from close games and you have everything you need to know of why this game is lacking in fun and playability, yet leaves you with bags of frustration.
I'm 5th in the Prem which is great, but where is the enjoyment of getting in this position?, simple, there is'nt any.
Thats because most of the games have NO relevance whatsoever to the score, player performances or your position in the league table, its almost like your playing two different games altogether and at some point they've been thrown together, but fail to coincide?.

Hammer, can I just refer you back to thisc that I posted earlier: Quote:
If you now continue to say you're dissapointed when the team loses games it's going to very difficult to recover from.
Just out of interest when you lose a game do you normally say to the team that you're dissapointed? Or do you sympathise with them or even tell them you're pleased with their performance, despite the result?
I ask because since I stopped shouting at my players altogether I've noticed an improvement in form over the season. I rarely go on osing streaks because I encourage my team rather than shout at them and this seems to have a good effect on moral.
I'm not saying it should work this way, and for me this is a small problem with the game. Sometimes the players probably could do with a shouting at, but moral has a big effect and in my experience it can easily snowball and you soon find your strikers missing chances and your team going on a losing streak.
| I'm just interseted to know how you approach team talks. I'm not saying this is the total cause of the problem in your case, it's just something I'm looking into at the moment.

I tried doing them myself, using the help thread here at SI mate, but it made NO difference whatsoever?.
So basically, my Ass Man does them.

| Could I suggest the following while trying Brazil's tactic?
Take over the team talks yourself again and try the following:
Before every game select 'wish luck', unless you're massively the underdog and then in this case select 'you can win this'. If your massively favourites then go with 'Expect a win'.
Now for half time. If you're leading by 1 goal select 'show encouragement'. If you're winning by 2 goals select 'pleased'.
If you're down by 1 or 2 goals select 'show encouragement' unless they've played really badly and should be down by more (or you're down by more than 2 goals), in this case choose 'I expect more from you'.
Now for full time, and imo this is the most important bit:
If you've won select 'pleased' for the entire team and then give an individual talk of 'delighted' to anyone who's got a rating of 8 or more. NEVER use 'I want you to play like this every week'.
If you drew the game then go with 'sympathise' unless you were the underdog then go with 'pleased'.
If you lose then try and always stick with 'sympathise' or even 'pleased' if you were largely the underdog.
Only if I get absolutely spanked do I use 'Disappointed' and I never use 'angry'.
This helps to keep moral up even after a loss, and this seems to be very important in the game and if not done can lead to bad results and form snowballing.
Also ignore all media comments as you're just as likely to upset a player as please them.
So please have a go at following the above instructions to the letter while using Brazil's tactic that's been working well for him.
It won't turn things around straight away so it'll probably only be worth testing properly from the start of a new season. But I'd be very interested to see if the above, combined with good tactical management, will improve your fortunes.
If not then I'm pretty much out of ideas and will accept that I've so far just been lucky.
