In the technically starved lower leagues (i'm playing as Harvant & Waterlooville in the english conference south), are physical stats more important than technical stats? Is it better to have a striker with finishing 16 but pace and acceleration 2 or 3 as compared to a striker who can run like the wind but (stat-wise) cant find the corner flag, much less the goal post? And does this physical vs technical thing only apply to strikers or to players of all positions in the lower leagues?
Throughout the course of the season i noticed the top scorers were either : 1. good headers of the ball (heading and jumping at least 15) or 2. pacy pacy strikers (pace and acceleration also about 16ish but with distinctly average finishing stat, maybe 9 or 10)
Last season i used a striker who can head the ball (james taylor) with distinctly mixed results. He was my top scorer by a mile and I managed to get into the playoff but took a terrible thumping in the finals. In the close season i acquired lee ellington (pace and acceleration 15). Right now i'm torn between choosing to bid for andy caton (a speedy type player) or julian alsop (ridiculously good header of the ball).
Right now i'm deciding whether i should have 2 big targetmen and get my wingers (if u can call them that) to just lump the ball up to them and hope they can outhead the defenders or get 2 pacy strikers and have my midfielders pump through balls down the center and hope they outpace the opposition defense.
My personal preference is to use physical players but fast players. From experience I've found that pace is the most important attribute if you want to succeed. As far as strike force is concerned I prefer a combo of a big man and a finisher
im always preferring a physical player over a technique-skilled one... just because he can beat the hell out of those Saviola\Aguero\EnterSomeTinySouthAmericanPlayerHer e
