I've been a long time lurker, occasional poster, but nonethless always had an interest in the LLM style of player.
Anyway, a quick question that I recently encountered playing in Wales as Bangor City. I'd never played in Wales before, mostly England, so I was a bit surprised to see the number of messages appearing "Manager X Chases Player Y".
Since Bagnor City can't scout outside of Wales, and the players that are mostly appearing are Irish/Scottish, I was wondering if it is in the LLM spirit to sign these players to a trial then sign them on a permanent basis.
If they're coming up in in game news reports and you're unable to scout them, then a trial is the only way to get to look at them.
Not sure if any Scots or Irish would sign part time for a Welsh club though. Maybe a Welsh llama can enlighten us if there are many playing in the Welsh league.
I played a game with Bangor once a few months ago. You are right about the Scots/Irish players (I mostly got Irish ones). What I did was trail them, play them in a match or two, then get a coach report. If the report said that player X should become a permanent part of the squad if opportunity arises then sign them, no problem.

As of the beginning of the 2006-2007 season (well as of 25/09/06 so a bit after) the registered players in the Welsh Premier League comprised of the following nationalities.
230 Wales
68 England
2 Northern Ireland
2 Spain
1 Republic Of Ireland
1 Australian
To be honest, I'm not sure if that is a full list, it seems a bit of a low count. Link below. It gives a general idea though, and it's what you'd expect really, mainly Welsh (obviously!) and English, with a couple of lost Spaniards and an Aussie who probably is back-packing and can't be arsed to move on. He's a keeper btw, so doesn't have to do too much.
